Cheat codes

Enter the following codes while on the field or during battles to activate the corresponding cheat function:

Battle Boost (fully heals all allies' HP/MP, fills the Limit Break gauge): Press the Right Analog-stick.
No Encounters (does not prevent forced encounters, such as bosses): Press both Analog-sticks.
Speed Boost (triples gameplay speed): Press the Left Analog-stick.

Master Materia

There is a special Materia called Master Materia, which can be for Magic, Command, or Summon commands; it contains the effects of all the Materia of that type in one. You can obtain two of each by completing the indicated tasks:

Master Command Materia: Master all Command Materia.
Master Command Materia: Defeat the Emerald Weapon, and give the Earth Harp to the traveler in Kalm.
Master Magic Materia: Master all Magic Materia.
Master Magic Materia: Defeat the Emerald Weapon, and give the Earth Harp to the traveler in Kalm.
Master Summon Materia: Master all Summon Materia.
Master Summon Materia: Defeat the Emerald Weapon, and give the Earth Harp to the traveler in Kalm.

Emerald and Ruby Weapon rewards
Defeat each of the game's superbosses (Emerald and Ruby Weapons) to get items that can be traded at a traveler in Kalm. The Emerald Weapon's item gives a Master Magic, Command, and Summon Materia; the Ruby Weapon gives a free Gold Chocobo, without any breeding necessary.

Code for Rocket's Huge Materia
When obtaining the Huge Materia from the rocket in the late portion of the game, the code is B, X, A, A.

Final Heaven Piano puzzle solution
In the latter half of the game, when Cloud rejoins your party, go to Tifa's house in Nibelheim with her in your party. You can play a sequence of notes on the piano to obtain the Final Heaven, the item needed for Tifa's Limit Break. After playing all the notes, press Start. The button sequence corresponding to the notes you need to play is: A - X - Y - (LB + Y) - (LB + X) - A - X - Y - (LB + A) - B - A - X - Y. Note: Hyphens separate individual buttons, and buttons grouped in parentheses with a plus sign mean to press them together. For example, "(LB + Y)" means to press LB and Y simultaneously, where "A - X" means to press A, then press X.

Accomplish the indicated achievement to get the corresponding number of Gamerscore points:

First Blood (15 points): Emerge victorious from your first battle.
Breaking New Ground (15 points): Use a Limit Break.
Consummate Cross-dresser (15 points): Get Don Corneo to choose Cloud over the two females.
Fledgling Summoner (15 points): Use a summon Materia in battle.
Materia Mastermind (15 points): Raise a Materia to Lv. 5.
Best Bromance (15 points): Go on a date with Barret in the Gold Saucer.
Chocochampion (15 points): Win the Chocobo Racing mini-game.
Corel's Angel (15 points): Score 10,050 points or more in G-Bike at the Gold Saucer.
Shuriken Join Us (15 points): Have Yuffie join your party.
Won't You be My Valentine? (15 points): Have Vincent join your party.
Making Waves (15 points): Obtain the Leviathan Materia.
Waiting in the Wings (15 points): Obtain the Bahamut Materia.
Coming Up All Nines (35 points): Obtain 99,999,999 gil.
Liege of Leveling (35 points): Reach Lv. 99 with one character.
Bahamutype-0 (35 points): Obtain the Bahamut ZERO Materia.
Roundtable Destruction (35 points): Obtain the Knights of the Round Materia.
The Slash to End All Slashes (35 points): Learn Omnislash—Cloud's last Limit Break.
Loose Cannon (35 points): Learn Catastrophe—Barret's last Limit Break.
Packing a Punch (35 points): Learn Final Heaven—Tifa's last Limit Break.
See the Light (35 points): Learn Great Gospel—Aeris's last Limit Break.
A Universe of Pain (35 points): Learn Cosmo Memory—Red XIII's last Limit Break.
Meet Your Maker (35 points): Learn All Creation—Yuffie's last Limit Break.
Wheel of Fortune (35 points): Learn Slots—Cait Sith's last Limit Break.
Inner Demons (35 points): Learn Chaos—Vincent's last Limit Break.
Gale Warning (35 points): Learn Highwind—Cid's last Limit Break.
A Feat of Meteoric Proportions (70 points): Complete FINAL FANTASY VII.
Transcendent Convoker (70 points): Obtain the Master Summon Materia.
Failure IS an Option (15 points): Have your whole party fall in battle.

Additionally, there are three secret achievements:

Diamond Disintegrator (70 points): Defeat Diamond Weapon.
Ruby Render (70 points): Defeat Ruby Weapon.
Emerald Eviscerator (70 points): Defeat Emerald Weapon.
