Not realy, i've played and finished games then companies have decided to release a demo for them! Sometimes sales are so poor they do it to try and garner interest or boost sales.
If you were to buy demos with PC magazines, then it would be hilarious! Take PCZone for eg January issue; Exclusive demos of Crysis,UT2,CoD4,Timehsift,Hellgate and Painkiller Overdose.

Now i've played and finished the full game (in the case of Crysis) and played all those demos months ago!!

DVD PCmagazines are an absolute waste of time in this day-and-age. (for me -wish i had a choice) Sure there are some countries/people that don't have fast broadband, but if you own a gaming PC then your generaly up to speed in all dept concerning demos and info. Besides, here we have probably the BEST site out there for for info on all demos/full games and practicaly EVERY bloody-thing-else! I am of course talking about Gameguru Cool

Well now for a comment about the actual demo...It's really good I thought, has an easy interface and the graphics are super hot. I like just walking through the meadow when it's raining. You also get quite a strong sense of the story when playing, especially at the beginning. So yeah, I thought it was a worthwhile download.
