Paul Munn over at Aeropause

measured the power consumption of his PS3 in various modes to see just how much juice the sucker was using:

- Standby: 1 watt.
- Remote Start Standby: 24 watts.
- Idle at the XMB: 158 watts.
- Playing a video or music from the XMB: 160 watts.

that doesnt look like a whole lot, a reg pc will have a 400ish watt psu and a high end one can use way more.

pretty impressive i think, considering my gaming rig needs 700watts lol.

Hmm, the LCD panels to go with your PS3 are quite hungry and drink up 150W+ depending on size and brand etc.

Most monitors use a fair bit less, but even so, together they are still using less than a lot of pcs.

I would be interested to see the figures for the xb360.

I'm not surprised seeing the all time worst console score as bad even in the power-consumption category.
