Early Geekbench results show AMD’s Zen 6 architecture delivering up to 24% higher performance per clock than Zen 5. The numbers come from the EPYC 9996 server chip, which scored 2847 single-core points at 4.12 GHz.
That score is close to a Zen 5 EPYC 4545P running at 5.47 GHz, which scored 3064. A locked Ryzen 7 9700X at 4....

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 9850X3D currently lead Intel’s Arrow Lake and Arrow Lake Refresh chips in gaming, often by 15–30% at 1080p/1440p thanks to 3D V-Cache.
Intel’s 270K Plus improved value and latency but still trails in pure frame rates and 1% lows. Both next-generation desktops are expected around early 2027: AMD Zen 6 with early tests showing 16–24% higher performance per clock, and Intel Nova Lake with planned big-cache variants aimed at matching AMD’s gaming advantage. Whether Nova Lake’s larger cache can close the gap against Zen 6 will decide the next gaming battle.
For the best gaming performance right now, AMD’s X3D chips remain the clear choice. |
