The Ward is 2D/3D point-and-click adventure game developed by Fragile Bits. In the game you play the role of David Walker, one of the astronauts on the Apollo 16 space station. One perfectly ordinary day, just when you were about to test the Moon's seismic activity, something happened. You have no idea what it might have been, you didn't see a thing, but it sure wasn't harmless as it killed everyone in your crew, except you, of course. Why, what and how? A lot of questions with no answers...So, you embark on a quest you must not loose, for if you do the Earth and whole humanity would be destroyed! The story follows a three-act structure, and each act takes a different kind of approach. While the first part of the game, in which you try to escape from the Alien Moon base is hard sci-fi and puzzle solving, the second part introduces a large cast of characters and turns into a whodunit-meets-X-Files. The last part is completely different again with more action-packed plot. You can start the game with three different choices: Easy (which lets you skip major logical puzzles), Normal and Demo (an unique mode that will play through the first bit of the game for you).

Laser can be handy :)

Much of the gameplay leans towards basic item collection and/or usage. Keycards, laser guns, alien artifacts and additional important objects rapidly fill a spaceman's inventory, though the intended purposes of most can be divined at a glance. The puzzles are classical for this kind of a game - you will starts your quest in an Alien space station surrounded by a bunch of weird-looking devices and robots... I can honestly say, this is definitely not an adventure game for beginners, so I strongly recommend you to start on Easy mode because you will able to skip puzzle. However don't forget you can die in the game, and there are a few sequences that are critical to timing. The Ward provides several hours of fairly good entertainment and will please most hardcore fans of adventure games. Download playable demo (27MB).
