The Nations (Die Völker 2)
(hx) 04:42 AM CEST - Jun,27 2001

The Nations (Die Völker 2) is a Settlers-like real-time strategy game, sequel to Alien Nations (released year ago). In the game you select one nation and begin with a small main building. Around this building, you construct houses and special buildings. Alike to other strategies, gradually, a booming microworld will develop, growing into a town. You have to find raw material and train newly-arrived inhabitants in the schools as masons, wood-cutters, researchers, etc. They are then able to play their part in the growth and expansion of their nation. You can choose from three different races: Pimmons, Amazons and Sajik, and then use research, trade and diplomacy to achieve your objective. The Pimmons are cute little fantasy creatures with magic powers, the Amazons are pretty humanoids with boobies! and the Sajikis are ravenous insects. The game features enormous 3D terrain, 75 different buildings and 85 different professions, unlimited zoom function, diplomacy, trade, research with 100 technologies to be discovered, a living world - with wild animals and people that go about their daily work, a school system to train the inhabitants, experience levels for military units,  highly detailed graphics with entertaining animations, campaigns with 10 different missions per nation, quite good AI system and also multi-player support. In comparison with Alien Nations,  the game graphics are significantly improved and nice detailed, only sound are still average and music a bit crazy :) However it's pretty cute game, if you like Settlers, it's game for you, though The Nations seems to be rather for children. Try playable demo (32MB).

snd: 3/5 - Average, too much crazy music :)
gfx: 4/5 - Very cute and nice detailed (though Tropico has better details), unlimited zoom function
playability: 4/5 - Good, lots of fun, easy to use interface, multiplayer, realistic growth of population through birth, 75 different buildings and 85 different professions
genre: RTS
release: June 2001
developer: NEO
the game is similar to: Settlers
publisher: JoWood

THIS GAME IS NOT REAL TIME STRATEGY its real time crap. If ya got nothing better to do today, go out buy this game and smash it up with your baseball cause it belongs in the trash not on the shelves. Soo many flaws i cannot even count. I will list a few. 1. In multiplayer mode the game crash after 16 hours of constant running. 2. if you lose the game. The sound effect start playing AFTER the game is closed. 3.Sometimes if you click anywhere in the title windows the game goes in multiplayer mode. IM so mad i waste my money on this.
