Star Trek: New Worlds
(hx) 06:46 PM CEST - Sep,03 2000

Star Trek: New Worlds is first ground based 3D RTS game set in the Star Trek universe. The game combines cutting edge technology and total interaction with a uniquely immersive gaming experience. You can choose to play as an honorable member of the United Federation of Planets, as one of the Klingon Imperial Task Force or amongst the regiments of the Romulan Star Empire and develop or destroy the frontier in 42 challenging missions. Sounds pretty cool isn't? The core of the game is familiar - build bases, build units, research etc but unlike the other RTS games Star Trek: New Worlds uses 3D to represent base building; instead of structures popping into place or filling up, it looks to be a nice idea. Star Trek fans will aprreciate that game includes lot of never-before-seen vehicles such the Federation Phaser Tank, the Klingon Mobile Disruptor Battery and the DragonWraith Class Romulan Cloaking Tank and also new structures such a Hydroponics Bays, Photon Artillery Launchers etc. Well, gameplay is also kinda different from other strategy games, Star Trek: New Worlds offers 3 different gameplay views. The primary view is a 3D free-form view, where you can adjust camera elevation, rotation, and pitch. The other views include more traditional strategy perspectives from above, one from high up, and one closer to the ground. The graphics of a game aren't bad. The game offers 3 resolutions for gamers: 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768. Textures are well done, lighting is excellent, and the explosions are pretty cool. I think its another interesting RTS game, but I recommend you to try demo (89MB) first.
