Etherlords is 3D turn-based strategy game that mixes the popular card game Magic : The Gathering and strategy series Heroes of Might & Magic. Set in an exciting fantasy world, Etherlords puts you to a world where you are able to control heroes and send them on invasions to destroy the enemies' castle. The game features totally different novel gameplay blending best of magic combat prompted by trade card games and strategic resource management, 4 magic races, each with its distinctive realms, architecture, spells, and combat style, 2 military campaigns on the side of two allied races, over 300 spells including summoning (120 richly detailed monsters to summon), instants, enchantments, and rituals, true 3D turn-based combat (custom set of battle spells and individual combat style for each hero), 64 heroes of 4 different races, their stats, specific abilities, and skills grow as heroes gain levels complex diplomacy system featuring long-term alliances and barter dealings, over 10 game levels fused with a background story-line and Internet and LAN multiplayer support. If you have ever played games like Magic : The Gathering, you should be very satisfied :) This game should appeal also Heroes of Might & Magic fans looking for something else to play. extremely addictive game, unique battle system, Internet/LAN support up to 2 players, too much work to learn to play it in - especially for gamers not used to the mechanics of the Magic The Gathering collectible-card type of combat, huge 1.4 GB install

| zig | posted - Dec, 31 2001 - 01:20 | | I ummed and arred (both words ?!) about getting this game. I love RPG's and FPS but I also like the turn based aspects of Final Fantasy VIII.
I must say I'm glad I went for this, it's a complext game and quite a challenge. I did have some sound problems (stammering) but they are all gone since going to XP.
Anyway, gotta go, got some spell casting to do.... |
