Descent Freespace 2
(Elesgal) 12:22 PM CEST - Oct,12 1999

Here is the second one from the Descent Freespace saga. The story continues after 32 years, the Great War is over, but there's no peace in the Galaxy. The GTVA (Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance) must battle not only with the old enemies Shivans, but also with the own rebels. Because there's no way to return to the Earth, the main goal in the game is to conquer and understand the Shivan's Jump Node technology, what may be the key to our own jump node to the Earth. The game look a bit same like the first one, the HUD, interface, movies, all this is very similar, but greatly improved. The polygon rate, hardware support, number of missions, number and size of space ships, weapons, enemies, background, mostly everything. The game is on 3 CDs, so there's lots of movies, music and speech. The multiplayer possibility is great too, with many cool game modes, like dogfight, cooperative games, team play, all covered with innovative voice messaging technology and fast internet play. And there is a super mission editor included. So what are you waiting for?

snd: 5/5 - - atmospheric music, great sounds, absolutely fine and rich speech
gfx: 5/5 - - the biggest and graphically the best space combat simulator
playability: 4/5 - - You think you are nothing. A bit of dust between the giant spaceships, between the strong lasers, a small hero with his own "job", a small part of the great war machinery. And this is the thing what I call atmosphere. You are not a single HERO protecting the good and beating the evil. You are only a pilot! When you will watch a couple of big space stations in a battle, you will understand what I'm talking about.
genre: space simulator
platform: Windows 98
developer: Interplay
the game is similar to: Descent Freespace 1
publisher: homepage
