Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX
(hx) 11:52 PM CET - Jan,02 2001

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX focuses the aggressive spirit and tremendous energy of BMX riding into an accessible, trick-based action game developed by Z-Axis. In the game, riders are given an open track, a set of tricks, a bike, and the rest is up to them. The challenge: Take their rider from zero to hero in their very own freestyle BMX career. The game features 10-Time World Champion Dave Mirra, along with 8 other BMX superstars(Leigh Ramsdell, Mike Laird, Troy McMurray, Kenan Harkin, Joey Garcia, Shaun Butler, Chad Kagy and Tim Mirra), authentic motion-captured BMX tricks by Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist, an innovative open trick system with more than 1300 possible BMX tricks, 12 interactive environments focused on vert, dirt and street riding, including the San Jose Ramp Club, Dave Mirra's own Eastwood Ramp Park and Camp Woodward's famed "Lot 8" and skeletal Dynamics System generates real-time crashes and more than 30 authentic in-game sponsors (Slim Jim, Adidas, UGP, Maxxis, Pro-tec, Haro...). Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX includes killer soundtrack featuring Sublime, Cypress Hill, Rancid, Social Distortion, Deftones, Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, 59 Times the Pain, Primer 55 and Swingin' Utters! I've enjoyed this game though am not big biker :) Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX has good graphics and a cool way of controlling. It's really good playable, if you are biker, don't miss this game :) Download playable Demo (38MB).

snd: 3/5 - Very good music (Sublime, Cypress Hill, Rancid, Social Distortion, Deftones, Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, 59 Times the Pain, Primer 55 and Swingin' Utters), but sound effects are rare.
gfx: 3/5 - Good, authentic motion-captured BMX tricks by Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist, but unrealistic physics, maximal resolution is only 800x600/16bit
playability: 3/5 - Very good, simple and intuitive controls, 1,300 possible BMX tricks, too much time pressure in levels
genre: bike racing
platform: PC, PSX, DC
release: December 2000
developer: Z-Axis
publisher: Acclaim Entertainment
