Activision cited research that estimates the global video game cheat economy at about $8.5 billion a year. The figure comes from threat intelligence firm Intorqa, which put cheat subscriptions across 15 games at roughly $3.5 billion and a wider market of account sales, boosting, and spoofing tools at about $8.5 billion.

These are the results of the achievement systems and competitive gaming.
People measure each other with "did you get that done"?
If not, you suck, you are garbage.
So, people are willing to pay for these to present themselves better than what they really are - no matter the cost or the risk.
It's a sad world, I am telling you.
I grew up in a world where we enjoyed games.
I still do.
Activision should enable cheats in their games so people would not have to pay for them. Most games come with built-in cheats that work only in single-player.
Nothing wrong with that. |
