Activision cited research that estimates the global video game cheat economy at about $8.5 billion a year. The figure comes from threat intelligence firm Intorqa, which put cheat subscriptions across 15 games at roughly $3.5 billion and a wider market of account sales, boosting, and spoofing tools at about $8.5 billion.
