| New scene -- abandoned arctic base or whatever. And then Canyon Flight now has HDR. Visit http://firingsquad.com/ for 3Dmark06 review, you'll understand it's worth a dowload if you have capable hardware. |

I have a GeForce 7800GT 256mb PCI-E (factory over clocked) and not slow by any means, but this is pointless as a tool as even established PC mags don't use it.
If i hadn't just played the ass of Far Cry,FEAR,X3 and BF2 (in 1600x1200 this util would make you feel like you had wasted your money.
Playing games is what it's about, if your sitting there happy with what your card is rendering and the fps what is the problem? I was more interested to see the 'dragon' demo using SM3.0, but other than that what a load of hyperbole!!!
LOL to think they want you to **PAY** for the full thing! Even more to the point, why??????????? |

A good article on 3DMark 06 with some criticism, points and thought,s on their way of making "the" benchmark tool.
I myself, wouldn't bother with making my major decision when buying a gfx card based on 3DMark 0* points. Gfx cards are made for playing games with, currently in most of the situations imo. Where AF/AA and other image enhancements plays a big part, especially when buying a high end card as the X19/8~, 78~.
Its the sense,s that your are trying to satisfy, dont try to satisfy your ego more than needed. Like with buying the most expensiv card there is, even tho the one for less price will satisfy you and bring better image quality than your current gfx card. Much is about price vs. performance and even "Watt" now, at this time of hidden cost, and the things that matters of course. |

| There's so much difference between game engines and how they work/what hardware components they strain the most that a single 3D test cannot even come close to being a true universal benchmark. Totaly useles software imho, updated(feature-wise) rarely. |
