If you have cable or satellite TV in the U.K. or buy a TV. Your details are sent to the TV licensing and are required by law if you have either subscription regardles,. Because all TVs have tuners in them to pickup BBC channels.
If you have Netflix on a laptop and don’t own a tv then that’s a no,no. |

Whats the laws on using a monitor so no built in tuner, an amp for sound and a chromecast and projecting youtube from your phone to the monitor?
You can watch all the live TV you want that way and it bypasses the stupid laws.
Is it illegal to watch live TV on your phone? If not, then just cast it to the TV.
I think you can get some very large monitors with built in sound these days. Nice 4K HDR monitors. Just get a 50in one and plug in a chromecast with google tv and enjoy. |

| In the Czech Republic, the law regarding television fees has been structured for many years in such a way that anyone with an electricity connection or a mobile phone is required to pay these fees. |

| I do believe that in Germany, the license is already incorporated into rent in social housing. So there’s no opting out regardless |

| Everyone in Serbia has to pay state TV tax. Exemptions? Sure, if you report that you have more than one TV they charge you again for each TV. No TV? Not their problem. State TV is a cesspool of government employees and someone has to finance the paychecks. I don't see this being much different elsewhere in Europe... |
