I apologize for the lack of web updates in the last few days (not much has been happening anyway). The reason was that we upgraded the server, slowly but surely the system disk was dying and then in the RAID the disks were also a bit worn out. But the whole process was complicated and I thank Marek very much for arranging it (I just sent him the disks). He had to move Gameguru to his own server last Sunday, then take the server home, replace the system disk with an SSD and carefully clone all the partitions under Linux, then put the new disk in the RAID and then bring everything back and migrate all the data back to the repaired server. Nice work, Marek is really nice to do this for me. Don't forget that it was him who founded Astalavista.box.sk and Gameguru.box.sk back in 1997/1998 and it was him who offered me to take over Gameguru in 2000. So we have new disks, I bought a new SSL certificate today, so hopefully it will be quiet again for a while.

Good work guys.
Its been quiet everywhere so I didn't even notice this was down or anything.
I remember the box.sk days. those were the good old days and I miss them.
I keep looking towards astalavista and realise it not like it was then have to go elsewhere.
Yea, I've moved servers around and done things like that. Takes days sometimes and HDDs, nightmares when they dont work like they should and when they start to die is the worst. Half the data is ok but 1 file can ruin everything.
Sounds like its been a busy week and lots of messing around. Good luck with it all, hope it is all good and that 1 file thats the problem doesn't show up like it usually does for me.
keep up the great work.
BTW, Unsure what the dates say when i joined etc, but I was here in the box.sk days. was a visitor for about 4 years before I actually made an account, maybe longer? It was a gaming news site for me so no need to reply, just read the news so I didnt need an account.
Had forums for replies, had news sites for the news, had fakebook for the abuse. Now we have all for all. |

These social sites are probably the worst invention in the history of mankind. Gameguru has a Facebook account, but I never managed to be very active there. I've been on Twitter quite a bit in the last year, but it's not just about games, I'm there more for the crypto scene. I don't want to make 2 accounts because of that. I also have a robot that posts all the news from Gameguru, but they charged for it a while ago. I don't really want to pay 10 euro a month just for that, because I don't think it would have any bigger effect. I mean, I don't think I'm going to be a celebrity on Twitter lol.
Astalavista.box.sk was very famous! Actually, thanks to it, Marek had something to finance other projects (gameguru.box.sk, neworder.box.sk etc). Too bad that somehow the whole vision didn't turn out as it could have. Probably some investor should have come and take it up a level. Instead, gradually almost all the sites disappeared. |

Oh man, gameguru.box.sk, I was there 3000 years ago!
Is it Marek or Mark though? Both names are mentioned. |

His correct name is Marek, Marek Bednar Sorry.
Yeah it's all been a long time, sometimes I wonder if everybody likes those modern responsive websites with modern graphics and lots of animations and effects. Or whether this more than 20 years old classic that looks quite ugly is still more practical for daily use |

Man… yep I was there. How on earth can it be that long? We’re in our 3rd house since then!. Life is so cruel at times and highlights our immortality.
A few months ago, the site i joined in about 1991 CombatSim.com announced its closure.
I mean we’re going back to 33.6 dial-up days. I was into military flight sims for about 20 years, then operation flashpoint came along and my flying world changed!
We’re like a bunch of old farts reminiscing |

Operation Flashpoint was the last milsim I played, but I did recently give Hell Let Loose a go and I liked it very much. The only game I tried that gave me a similar vibe to OP Flash was Escape From Tarkov. |
