i often tried to figure out why the americans have this strange ?cultural? behavior. i guess as with most complex problems there isent an easy answer.
one factor for sure is the fact that a majority of citizens are scared shit less. done by media propagande and rediciolous gun laws. hell i would be scared too if any stranger could pull a piece on me in the streets and blow my brains out. this bring people to be very religious together with education in that direction starting at very young ages. having 5 year old standing below a flag singing under god and doing an oth would bring back a lot of bad memories here. that in addition to the violent legal system, the situation in us prisons, death penalty etc, leeds to a violent society. the whole bullshit that kids become violent because of violent games and movies is just a whol lotta crap. if a kid becomes violent and shots 15 people in his school the first ones to blame are the perents because they did something dreadfully wrong. if an 16 year old watches like privat rayen and laughs out loud when some guy gets his brain shot out, there is already something very wrong because he obviosly cant imagening himself into that same situation, there we got another problem the american society is build not upon helping each other but on defeating your competitor by any means and if you lie on the floor defeated its your god dam own fault and no one will help you up. one other point u got a lot of diffrent cultures that live side by side instead of intertwining, you got chinese livinig like in china speaking only chinese, hispanic people speaking only spanish only consorting only with other hispanic socialy. there are similar problems with integration of foreigners in europe but there are strong efforts a make clear that if you want to life in this or that country youll have to speak the language and agree to a variaty of ethical values and cultural standarts. speaking the same language is of course the first prerequisite to consort with people other then your cultural heritage.
so you got a violent, very religious and there for sexually frustratet, society wich is build upon conflict with a lot of diffrent but close to isolated cultures where the state legally kills people, violence and murder on an daily basis both in news and in the streets itself wich brings a lot of fear.
this of course is only a part of the reason but i think its a good start.

It's about protecting minors (those under the legal age for sex or seeing such material)
Kids are kids, you grow up being a kid -or should do!
If someone sells your kid a hardcore porno what would you as a parent do? Shoot them,report them to the authorities or just say it's cool?

So that makes the 'Hot Coffee' mod fit into the perv selling porno to your kid mould doesn't it?

Rockstar court controversy, that's cool when it's sold as an 18 certificate. but they *deliberately* sold it on a lower age certificate to get the 'younger' audience sucked-in -Which of course equals HUGE sales.

Then it contains hidden code *deliberately* put there by RS, which is a serious no-no! Anyone remember 'Carmageddon'? It shipped *without* red blood because the BBFC wouldn't allow it's release in '95 So they (SCI) made zombies and green blood, although a 'patch' was released **AFTER** the sales which got around the BBFC so that real peds and red blood was enabled afterall. But that was a PATCH and NOT existing code hidden within the game at sale.

Similarly 'The Sims 2' had nude skins made **BUT** the naked sims within the game do not show genitalia etc. So EA are absolved from what the public do with the game after release.

You fail to realise that what's sold in America, or around the world, can be bought by ANYONE nearly around the planet.
So what has this done to RS in the long term? What sort of fine can they expect and what about their license? They could be closed down for deliberately defrauding the likes of the BBFC -serious,serious issues here.

Whatever, it's sooo childish of a company to try to increase it's sales in a childish 'look-under-the-skirt' manner.

first off comparing hot coffee with a hardcore porn is far fetched.
then what is an minor? i would'nt have a problem if my 14 teen year old sun would watch a hardcore porn, i wouldnt be thrilled about it but hell i had my first sexuall experience with 11! so i could not preach to him about only watching a porn. and then the americans already freak out because of 1 freaking nipple... no matter what age my kid was i wouldnt mind if he/she sah simple nude people....im not a nudist who cooks naked or anything rediculous like that but its just a nude body theres nothing dirty or impure about it... everybody got one...
btw what the hell is the legal age in the us to have sex? wasnt san andreas ratet 16? well its legal here to have sex with 14 dont tell me its the rediculous 21 in the us like with the beer and smokes...

you do realise that it was originally sold with a 17+ rating, now thats been removed and replaced with an 18+. id hardly say that all those 17 year olds who wouldnt have been able to buy it themselves could be considered a huge number of sales

Tub0rg's arguments make sense. It's normal to have sex at 17, don't you think so? So if you got a game that has a 17+ rating and see something like nude models there, that wouldn't kill you or perverse you in any way. Am I wrong?...
