I sense a massive confusion around bits - I guess the maker does not have a freaking clue what those bits mean.

These bits refer to the number of bits available for colour information per pixel.
The vast majority of the games on the market today are, in fact, 32bits (although it is more like 24bits with a few extras other than colour).
There was a time for 8bit graphics. That's what normal people call retro.
Dumbasses call something else retro.
