We started to develop Lost Alpha in the summer of 2008. The project first started out as a modification to add back the cut levels which all Stalker fans knew of. After a while, it became more than just a modification, it became our dream game, how we saw S.T.A.L.K.E.R. We hope to give you the same feeling when you first played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. A new chapter with familiar elements without which S.T.A.L.K.E.R. would not be the game we all grew to love. Lost Alpha was a labour of love. We are passionate about it and we hope you all will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it!
Install Notes:
1. Wait till download finishes, you should have 4 rar parts.
2. You will also get an extra ost, and game manual in pdf format
3. Use winrar or winzip to unpack the 4 archive
4. Run setup.exe and follow the instructions
This is a standalone addon, no need to have any stalker game installed.
Note: 64 bit operating system is highly recommended for dx9.5 (r2) and dx10 (r3) modes! Pc specs can be found in the manual. Have fun!
Some notes based on our experience from various sites after the release:
- Anyone who uses 32bit operating system should remove the msvcp120.dll, msvcp120d.dll and msvcr120.dll from the game's bins directory. That will solve many problems. Also you might want to delete user.ltx from appdata dir if you dont like how the game looks like, then the engine will create a default one, which you can finetune!
- If you guys dont have admin priviliges on your pc or don't have UAC disabled, then do not install the game to the default 'program files' directory (its protected by windows)! Install it to an other drive, or an other dir, otherwise you won't be able to save, load, or make screenshots. We will try to find out something for this in the upcoming patch.
- Also you should disable actor legs in options menu, as soon as you can, because it causes 3 troubles: 1 missing step sounds, 2 crash with missing bone, 3 crash when fighting rats.
