I like how game hardware has an antenna, as if such long distance communication over the airwaves should be free and not directly wired through telecom scum monopolies and spying government agency shitbag deadbeats to help monopolize over your device communication with others around the world.

That is the future, and it has not arrived yet.

It is the government that sells the radio spectrum, and they charge a lot for it. I am not sure what gives them the right to do so however. They don't own the air.
This is already a reality to some extent if you consider the WiFi in your laptop an antenna (however short-range it is) - or mobile phones.
