This Friday, December 13, Valve will begin shipping prototype units of the Steam Machine to 300 lucky people. Those selected will be notified around 5PM (EST) today that they will soon receive a prototype machine for testing purposes. Ya pretty shitty especially when you led people on for months. I know 2 guys who originally got in, never told for close to 2 months that they would not receive it. Regulatory issues, my ass. It's more Valve didn't make preparations in or at the right time. I wont hold it against you when I go buy one. |

It's limited to 300 units, so the odds are already slim.
Also, I have never really heard of an overseas tester for hardware. I don't think it's so much that Valve led anyone on, as much as the people complaining got wrapped up in viral media and had unrealistic expectations. |
