| I haven't played the original, but this one looks good, especially in the art department. Actually, it reminds me of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. |

I did play the original and I'm pissed off. Let's just say it wasn't first person or over-the-shoulder.
The remade Fallout as an FPS.
They are rebooting XCOM as an FPS.
Now they are remaking Syndicate as an FPS.
What's next FPS:
- Chucky Egg?
- Secret of Monkey Island?
- Populus?
- Civilisation?
- Scrabble?

| This is Deus EX cloning... the same mood, graphics, gameplay... only in blue tint, not yellowish |

Yeah, I knew it was not originally an FPS, but take it as it is. Not like a sequel or something, just an influenced shooter game, branching out from the original story.
I was pissed at Dungeon Siege 3 at first, but after a short while I managed to convince myself that this is not a sequel to the game I loved, but a whole new take on the setting and take it for what it is - an action rpg. |

I enjoyed Dungeon Siege 3 quite a lot.
Although I didn't think that the format of DS3 was a million miles away from the original... top-down click-to-kill dungeon crawler...
The new XCOM as an FPS is however a million miles away from a turn-based squad tactical shooter, it doesn't even look squad based.
The new Syndicate is a million miles away from the aerial control of a group of sinister-looking agents where you tell them were to go and control their aggression, speed, etc..
It's not like we're short of first person shooters. Big corps going around raping old IP and turning it into we-reskinned-the-last-FPS-we-made is really very disappointing to someone who played his first computer game 3 decades ago.
Sadly big bucks don't like niche gameplay, like back when all games were niche. Big bucks like multiformat dumb-as-you-can-get-it First Person Shooters or "Big Sports Title <YEAR>".
Yeah... I'm feeling old and grumpy. |

This is not a re make, or a sequel to the original.
You must understand that this is a TOTALLY new franchise with NO connections to the game of the same name.
All they have in common is the use of the name!
And it looks like a straight Deus Ex clone, as stated in a post above.
Im not saying that´s a bad thing, not saying its a good thing.
I would have liked a re make of the original Syndicate, but FPS is what´s hot right now...
I wont get it, to many FPS on the market right now.
BF3 will be my multiplayer poison and i guess RAGE for single player FPS. |
