Sweet, hx! I've been going to that site quite a bit lately, good to see them getting some props.
I wonder if that patch fixed most of the problems with the PC release; I read in numerous places it's so buggy that it wasn't worth buying. |

jeez, how can people stand to look at all those borders :S I can understand that for something like Flight sims, but... ~20" of borders all over the place?! How is that "immersive" experience? It's like playing a game from inside of a humvee or something and looking out of the windows...
edit: and that game is a shitfest itself. Deleted it after 15 minutes. |

a shitfest? ya whatever.. it's fantastic actually even if does have some bugs. Definitely best and deepest zombie game out yet. makes L4D look like shit on every level.
though I agree the multiple screens are major fucking lame and does not add immersion what so ever. Just another thing to make n00b pc gamers feel good about themselves. I bet too they still get owned with 3 screens. |

well, I pretty much dislike L4D, I mean, it's a shitfest too I guess I just don't find zombies fun (at all) or creative. Maybe I am overthinking it, but as a concept, zombies seem lame to me. It's like "hey, we want a bunch of people attacking the player(s) for no good reason, hmm, I got it - ZOMBIES!!! YAY!" |

Because you're not looking at the bezels, you're focused on the center of the middle screen -- just as you always have in shooters. The side monitors serve the same function as your peripheral vision: they give you movement cues. To extend your metaphor of driving a car, do you actively "see" the A-pillars when you look into a turn, or do you ignore them? If you're looking at them while turning, please get off the road; you're doing it wrong. Another comparison would be the rims of sunglasses or eyeglasses. You don't notice them (unless you actively choose to) because your mind is filtering them out of your perception.
Seriously, you have to play with an Eyefinity setup, (preferably with bezel compensation on), before you can understand. Watching videos of people playing Eyefinity doesn't convey the immersion. Your mind filters out the bezels. Try it; you'll like it. |

I saw both nvidia and AMD 3 monitor setups on live presentations. If there were no bezels then it would be like me looking out of the car straight in front of me all the time (some peripheral vision included but I don't have bezels splitting my windshield in two places so your comparison isn't really good unless you are using 3x42" displays, then I would have to agree with you. 3x22 or 24" displays barley cover my regular frontal only vision while being about a meter and a bit more away from them. For brain to ignore bezels on that distance, you either need an LSD or a brain surgeon. Brain ignores things after prolonged exposure to them while being very close to an eye itself. I am telling you this because it is true. I am a hobby diver but I dive a lot and brain can't even fully ignore middle piece on my diving mask that is only a few centimeters away...) |

Yeah. You're absolutely right. My mind isn't ignoring them, I just THINK I'm not seeing them. Perhaps I should more actively focus on the bezels. You know, then I can stare at them all the time and be mad about it. |

No, you should lay off the LSD. Why would I even try to "spin" something here? I have nothing to gain by it. If you can ignore bezels - good for you. I wouldn't game on 3 monitors even if I could ignore bezels because I don't see any point in it, I don't see any advantage in it over a 50" plasma or or a 1080p projected image over a 5x2.8 meters for the same amount of money. That eyefinity stuf is just another way of milking out the suckers, deal with it. It's far from smart investment and even further from a best possible one for the same money.
oh and one more thing - bezel free displays are out there for far more longer then eyefinity or any other bezel infested crap. |
