What the heck kind of deal is that?
They should be paying people to use shitty vis7a It's worthless compared to the cheap labor manufacturing of an xblock sos chipset .
Honestly though they ain't really giving shit away its just bribery! And its not really costing them at all, they'll make even more money on those who spend on its console platform. |

They want to flush the current Xbox from the market.
Probably as a preparation for Xbox 2. |

Wow, what's with all of the negativity? All new computers come with Windows 7 by default, so if you are already going to buy a computer, why not get a free Xbox with it? If you hate it so much and don't want it, give it away.
As for Windows 7 64-bit, it is the best version to date and you can run more than 4GB ram. Actually, 64-bit XP was the best but very little software was designed for it, but what can you do. Your only other option is to buy a crap Mac or run Linux, but again, not allot of games and software for it. |

First off I am in Canada, this is only applicable to the USA. Second of all it is the low end model which you can't do jack shit on and will end up costing you down the road as you workaround all it's lacking features. When they had a sale on these at Walmart they just sat on the shelf and never moved. Windows 7 is a fine OS as was Vista 64 that was great after SP1. I see no going back to XP old crap. If you have an old piece of crap computer you run XP.
Isn't MS supposed to be pushing gaming on PC? Yet here they are giving away a console with a PC purchase? |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know there is only one Xbox 360 model which is the new Xbox 360 S, but you can buy it with or without or a hard drive. The one you're getting for free does not come with a hard drive but you can add one at any time. And even though it doesn't come with a hard drive it does have 4GB of internal memory which acts like a hard drive so you can still use Xbox Live and and do everything any other console can do but of course you are limited to 4GB instead of 250GB.
An Xbox 360 with a 250 GB hard drive retails for $299.99, without a hard drive it's $199.99, and if you want to buy a hard drive is $99.99. |

I am curios, what's wrong with 4gb xblock? I haven't really looked into differences between versions. What makes it crap compared to better versions? I can get one for like ~70e and was thinking about it (cheap way to play driving games like forza). Is it really that unusable or what?
sorry for OT.
edit: and oh yea, kudos to m$ for promoting PC gaming /sarcasm |

other than 4gb not much I suppose, really haven't looked into it though I'm sure if you did you might find it a limiting.. or maybe not.. Either way what has MS got against education that they would want to be distracting young scholars with heinous black box gaming devices.

well that's always been a bit obvious since MS got into the console gaming/entertainment market. It's not like they got any competition on the PC side, by that I mean Linux or OSX..
I just wonder how they keep crApple from doing anything to encourage opengl game development on its platform, do crApple just get paid off by MS to do a crap job of making their drivers/platform as shit as be for developers, while putting any meager amounts of effort into easily marketable insert i[device name here] where you will find more games targeted for those platforms. |
