what hurts them the most is the fact that they have, at best, limited way of knowing or detecting hacked products.
What makes me laugh is that they thought it won't be hacked ever, unlike PS2. PS2 was hacked quite quickly and not many statements were made. So, they made sure that never happens to PS3.
Truth is, laws are meant to be broken. Codes are meant to be hacked. Like it or not.
on the other hand, PS3 and games associated to it have made quite a lot of profit and will continue to do so. Sony know that but they are sort of obligated to play this "scare tactics" role. No one in their sane mind would expect anything less from them. |

| They've already pretty much figured out how to block their checks, I was just being sarcastic. I agree, they are obligated to say their product is secure even if they are full of shit. |

Well, the way i see it in the local torrent trackers here the first games to be hacked are the console ones.
The PC games come out way to late compared to Consoles.
I guess that is one more BS, what they say is consoles are secure and make a lot of profits.
As i aways say - if a man dont wanna buy something, he wont! If he wants, he will!
So all that flaming on hackers is one big greedy BS from developers that just want a way to make profit from everyone. |

Just goes to show they are massively stupid over at Sony.
Not only because they screwed up the basic design of the box and made it rape-able in this way, but firstly for making the box a huge hack target by screwing the customers out of the ability to run Linux with their permission, but even more because of the way they handled it.
They should have just ignored it beyond releasing a statement that copyright violations don't help their bottom line and may keep some developers from developing for the PS3 as strongly as they otherwise would (near-total BS but at least it sounds like a reason to not pirate) and left it at that.
Going out all guns blazing and screaming "rape" at the top of their lungs just makes them look like a huge corporate a-hole. |

| PS3 games are actually not that popular in terms of pirating nor is it a huge hit on torrent sites. i don't know what torrent site you are going to but I use 2 of the best torrent search engines there are. The ones I've seen are in excess of 4 or 10gb. I got better things to do than leave my torrent on downloading something that big. |

that big? wow. I guess you don't download 24GB BR rips then. Now, THAT'S big! lol
On the other hand, you are from Canada right? They imposed DL restrictions on you :/ That sucks. Then again, 10GB is not that big if it will save you 50 bucks on a crappy title? I mean as in "try before buy" thing....
here where I am looking at, LBP2 got ~4400 DL's, KZ3 ~900 (but it's 41gig woot :O ) |
