PC Gamer has published a few quotes from World of Warcraft\'s lead designer Tom Chilton, where he talks about how other MMO\'s have gone free-to-play and how WoW might go that direction in the future. Here\'s an excerpt:

| Warcraft for free. Ya cuz they know there are other games coming out for free that will make WC look like total shit. So while they been soaking everyone for years making craploads of money, buying exotic sports cars now it's time to make it free. Whatever. I wouldn't play this shit even if it was free. All it is is a fucking chat channel for losers with no lives. |

I played the game until burning crusade. Married even then with less children so I had the time. Once that xpac came out and they put in all the extra rep grind I couldn't spend the time to get all my characters or even one up to speed. Anyways personal life and only being able to spend a couple hours at best a day won't get you much in an MMO like that.
It was a solid game when I stopped playing. No clue if it holds true today. It's partly true that friends make the game. Doesn't matter which genre it is imo. |
