I see no question were asked on what its multiplayer experience will be like.

no dedicated and quality multiplayer > shit games > no buy

This game sounds and looks like it will have a fairly solid singleplayer experience and gaming environment, but that doesn't mean much if its multiplayer/maps/mods/sdk support is poor or non existent, games like that belong in console land for all I care.

"We’ve been making PC games for over 15 years, so PC fans should rest assured that Rage will feel like a true PC game, not a PC port of a console game. "

That doesn't mean anything anymore, there past track record to me is crap doom3, crap quake4, crap quakewars, crap quakelive (what a joke). Its pretty easy to screw up (just look at cod4mw to mw2, multiplayer fuckup), but id software no doubt count all those as successful game titles, compared to the glory days, they've lost it.

"I do like what Carmack says about dedicated servers, "servers are something of a remnant of the early days of PC gaming." Translation: we're gimping the game because we're console sell-outs.
Guess what Carmack, you're a remnant of the 90's, back when games were revolutionary and innovative; your company is a relic, you haven't made a good game since Quake 3. It's quite sad really."

Cleary many people are also stupid aswel, because I'd never buy mw2 with its shit multiplayer that's worst than the first. And cod4mw is the reason a lot of pc players bought mw2 on release day.

Many people buy games only to find they were duped and ended up getting crap. And it shows in the downfall of that titles popularity later.

Its true id has slipped from its perch at the pinnacle of gaming in the 90s. With every release since doom 2 it has become complacent and jaded, falling out of favour with it's loyal hardcore gamers. Committing harakiri many times post doom2 as it fell down the precipice dismembering itself. I concur with Koogle's final statement that today ID does hark back to the 90s where it reigned supreme, and now its a mere shadow of its former self in regret of its time gone by, RIP ID.

Carmack prefers to play with fireworks.

"clearly if someone likes something you don't they must be stupid"

try not to take my statements to heart, many people like things I don't like much, the point was that using a sales records to make point is stupid. MW2 would have been a good sequel if they hadn't fucked up what they had already gotten right in the first instance.

And hey Obama got a record voter turnout, hope, change and all that bollocks..... just saying.

I remember the demise of ID began when they faced a worthy adversary Epic. It was all about which had the better engine ID or EPIC and which graphics card could exploit the maximum performance between 3dfx and ATI with Matrox lingering abysmally behind. As a staunched supporter of 3dfx (at the time) with its Opengl features i enjoyed playing UT. Since then ID began to slip and EPIC was the new kid on the block with an impressive engine, before you knew it game developers were purchasing EPIC licenses . That i where i think ID began to falter and the rise of EPIC at the helm of gaming supremacy remains to this day.

This is all recollection and meant to depict an actual historical account of events during ID's demise.

Of course.
I, like many, many others. Waited for a TRUE follow-up PC simulation of DID's EF2000, one of the best mili flight sims -before Falcon4. What did we get from RAGE? Eurofighter Typhoon a comedy of errors -emblazen with official licensedom; DID,BAE. So realistic you had to destroy a flying alien 'mothership' with your EF by dropping dumb bombs on it or shooting air to ground rockets -yes AIR TO GROUND- at a flying alien, because it had jammed your AIM 120's.....forgot about that non-realistic POS RAGE did we?? Thought so.

@PoliticalMaestro i got UT and the special edition with my Voodoo3. I still have my Diamond Monster 3D (3DFX) 4mb in a legacy machine along with a Matrox Mystique 2mb on pass through Cool

Stumpus, its about RAGE <the coming soon game from id Software> Not the Rage Software Smile the makers of euro typhoon fighter, and other not so good games.

Anyway yeah Epic owned id software with Unreal Tournament, though I say I must have played a bit more online Quake3+mods during its hay days, but UT was definitely the better game in many ways including its soundtrack which was just awesome.

vs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id_Tech_4
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id_Tech_3

yes clearly id software not fairing so well in total games released using its engine, though I think in actual quality of games id software and its engines have been involved in, they aren't that far behind really.

"That i where i think ID began to falter and the rise of EPIC at the helm of gaming supremacy remains to this day. "

Well imo EPIC entered the new age of making console crap with Gears of Wars and UT3, Epic's only really good games they've developed themselves are UT2k4 and UT for the pc which have been great multiplayer, and completely average in singleplayer, compared with id who've made decent singleplayer games, and not so good multiplayer games going from doom3 onwards.
