\uot;We are working on solutions with regard to things we can do to maintain connectivity to Battle.net in some way, but also provide a great quality connection between pl

| ironic how you guys say that you refuse to buy crappy games, that you wouldn't steal them if they were high quality. And yet people will still steal starcraft. The reason they are so pissed about missing lan is cuz they don't want to buy the game....damn theives. |

That's a bit short sighted comment!
As far as multi player gaming is concerned, you wouldn't be able to play it on line, if it was pirated, anyway. The thieves that just want it for the sinlge player campaign, will be able to play it even if it has lan support or not.
So what exactly is the missing lan trying to do? At most, it will not allow people on the same house, to play some skirmishes unless they have two genuine serial keys.
So don't be confused to think that this is an antipiracy measure. It is just a control measure. That's how ugly things start. With "innocent" measures like that. Before we know it, we will have everyone looking at our privacy in no time! |

yeh it is short sighted comment..
back with Startcraft installing spawn multiplayer only copies was a great way to setup a quick game with other people who didn't have the game.. although anyone who played Starcraft would most likely own the game just because it was effing good.
So there was no need to be a pirate there.
And now with SC2 obviously Blizzard gotten used to the cash cow that is wow the noob grind fest.. so obviously free lan spawns would definitely be straight out the box. Only they've gone one step too far in pissing off its fanbase (at least the non-noob variety).. taking out the option for LAN play altogether aswel as forcing users into a position where they can only play the fucking game they bought so long as they have an active internet connection is just epic stupid.
Blizzard are just taking advantage of the position they are in.. forcing a client login system that I'm willing to bet is going to come with many disadvantages.. of course they'll fool the nubs with statistics tracking and whatever other bullshit they've got lined up, that nubs will find really good.. while you have its client running in the background.
"So don't be confused to think that this is an antipiracy measure. It is just a control measure. That's how ugly things start. With "innocent" measures like that. Before we know it, we will have everyone looking at our privacy in no time!"
... pretty much the way I see it.
And these issues aren't really even about SC2 as a game and what that is going to be like yet.. right now this issue is mainly about blizzard taking out a pre-existing feature and setup in LAN play that many enjoyed with the original SC - that they BOUGHT!.
Other issues for me are things like the way Blizzard are just trying to look for as many ways as possible to split the game and features up, in order to later drip feed the rest of the SC2 game out in expansions in order to get everyone buying each expansion. Will eventually find out just how much SC2 compares to SC1 in gameplay time and features.
The fact they'll have even more client control over your playtime of SC2.. will mean they'll even better access to spam you with ads and shit.. or forced game updates.. when really all you wanted to do was play the fcuking game against AI and not wait for an update! Its all just retarded, I got sick of this client system setup with the Steam-ing-shit-platform where I haven't bothered playing most the valve games bought on my account in ages because of it. I just don't agree with that sort of shitty setup that nubs are allowing to happen. |

| I think stealing an OS is a lot worse than stealing a game. |

| I think its not stealing-its borrowing, since u r giving it back to the place u got it from-internet (torrent-wise). Just kidding:). I think publishers should try Quake Live approach-Ads in the games. |

Ads in games are ok with me if it lowers cost of game. Game prices are going up and that's not good at all, this is going to encourage lots of people to grab illegitimate copies. |
