This is awesome, Vista available to the Public. Hey where's that Stumpus guy who said we have to pay???
Sucks I couldn't get into this beta initially but this is great. Looking forward to running this and now I am further inspired to upgrade my drive to SATA3.
Looks like it's gonna be a fun weekend! |

Just FYI xxxx, this is most likely a debug build. Meaning, components probably include debug data which, in some cases, makes it run up to 5 times slower than the release build.
And if you're planning on installing it on your main computer, do it from windows via UPGRADE. If you start it up from DOS you're prolly have problems as i did. It needs a clean NTFS partition of 40GB+.
Have fun. |

Windows is dirt easy for me. I regret having turned down the beta email for Vista initially. Unfortunately too busy with life. I'm pretty knowledgable about the processes too and will take your advice strongly in terms of disabling all that garbage. Thanks for the info.
Tonite I am getting the WD 320GB SATA3 drive.. it will be a VERY clean partition... hehehe. $120 for a WD 320 SATA3 is a steal in my book. |

| 40 GB+ ? I presume you calculate that with page files, virtual memory and space to install programs to, but my 20 GB is well within sufficent space range so if one can't afford 40+ stick 16+. |

Well tried Vista but it was cut short because of no working drivers for the Creative Xfi.. tried all available and they didn't work and on their forums there was just griping threads about how Creative support sucks and how Creative is so lazy...If they put em out I might give it a go again.. Didn't feel like enabling nforce audio.
So, back to XP. Must say I like the bloated gui's more, looks like more fun things in the registry to tweak..huge security stuff in there, some disablable..
i wonder with sata2 drive, does anyone use a driver disk at the start of XP install? I don't. I've never thought so since I only have 1 drive and no real use for Raid.. for Vista however I had the thought perhaps it was different. |
