Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson told Kinda Funny there is no generative AI in Grand Theft Auto VI, and no real-money buys in the single-player game.
The New York Times visit put the animation count at well over 600,000, against 55,000 in GTA 5 and 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Sounds desperate. I mean, I’ve never in all my life of GTA games (since the first one top down) bothered with wtf NPCs are in the game. Only when one ran away from a cop making an arrest did it ever catch my attention.
Same with the lack open open buildings/doors.
He may as well be counting polygons!
The story has always been paramount. GTAIV was the best for me and the gritty background was superb.
Trevor and Michael’s wife being banged by the tennis coach and the piss annoying psychiatrist was about it in GTAV. |

Might possibly be the last fully AAA game made without gen ai, then. A milestone?
In a perverse way I'm glad they won't launch Online immediately. I'm a PC gamer and I can wait for a probably very good single player game until they release a PC port. Even though it's still nuts that they don't release a day-and-date PC version, there are quite a few of us who want to play this.
But I guess getting a big bundle of money now, and then another big bundle when it hits for PC works for them.
Either way, the "meat and potatoes" of GTA in the last 10 years has been Online. I'll get more excited when they release that. |
