I had a conversation over the weekend with a smart programmer, a guy a generation younger than me. He said that Linux has one major problem for him—drivers. For example, if you buy Bluetooth headphones, getting them to work on Linux is definitely not a matter of a few minutes of installation. That’s why he said he’d rather choose a Mac, even though it has a rather outdated GUI—i.e., Finder, etc.—compared to Windows 11, for instance.

They can't keep phoning it in with "good enough" and they can't keep screwing their customers over with ads and spyware. Because Linux has finally reached a point where it's a legitimate threat and alternative for many. Hell, the KDE desktop is so good it's arguably better than Windows at this point, and you can run thousands upon thousands of games off Steam.

So maybe if they start running a little more scared they will stop fucking us over constantly.

Although disabling that registry hack for Nvme drives is not a good look.

what linux needs to do is make their OS be able to run all windows games. that's what is stopping people from switching over from windows.
