On a 4GB RAM test machine, File Explorer used ~32.4MB of RAM without preloading. After turning on preloading, Windows quietly adds ~35MB more. So Explorer now sits at ~67.4MB in memory before you even open it. 35MB isnâ??t a big deal in 2025. Your browser eats that for breakfast. That's not the point of my testing. Why

If you’re a gamer, you have very little choice but to move to the next OS. Quite simply they, the devs/publishers won’t support it. Neither will steam et al. That means zero patches. If you want to live in the Stone Age, that’s your call. But when it comes to banking, security that’s a different matter.
They will not tolerate you using unsupported OS that are easily hacked. I’ve already said, and people should know, that hackers work backwards through patches for vulnerabilities.

Honestly, people have lost the plot. I’m on 23H2 and get all security patches and don’t suffer any if the shit that people cry about, or think they do…

If you’re a gamer, you have very little choice but to stick with Windows 10 or move to Linux.
Windows 10 is still supported, in case you did not know.

PS. the news is hardly surprising, that's MS all right. The surprising part is they did not fuck up Windows 10.

If we were *all* gamers we would **all** be on Linux. But we’re not. That’s why offices are not on it either. Because it’s insecure. I work at a bank group with 10,000 people in the building. They all use Win11. Obviously it goes through their own IT, which is like Fort Knox.
Everything comes to an end and if you’re a gamer you would know that since Win95. It’s not like we’re all on Win95 still or WinXP (which was my fav OS til Win7) Everyone says the same thing over and over again, then several years down the line they’re on the next OS.

Linux is on steam deck because Valve don’t need to pay M$ to use it. Like Unity is used a lot by indie devs.
I have several hundred games that don’t support it.
I’m not babysitting an OS to get it to work. Those days are over. That’s why Linux is bottom of the pile for gaming - steam HW

Arch Linux" 64 bit 0.31%+0.02%
Windows 11 64 bit 63.57%+0.53%

That’s the proof that people just don’t open their eyes to.
Niche and minority. The internet has made people nuts, to the point that the slightest bit of info is blown up to planet status.
It’s like a country that loses leadership. People then start conspiracies

Not a fan at all of Win11, but I'm on it and no problems thus far. I read this and that about it but in the end, my games still get top fps and I don't own a game or can think of one that has problems. There is enough 3rd party software out there too to fix many things on Win11.. Windhawk being one. Only thing I can recommend on Win11, is don't use powertoys or completely shut it down before gaming.

I did heavily consider Linux for my OS, but as stated, Linux is still far off as a gaming OS and a easy to use OS. I hope one day Steam OS becomes more viable.
