Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory preview - preview|
| (hx) 10:38 AM CET - Nov,05 2004 | PC.IGN
have posted an extensive preview of
Splinter Cell: Chaos
Theory (presentation
video, movies),
the third game in the Ubi Soft stealth action game series. Here's a slice:
Tools of the Trade
Sam Fisher has a number of new tools in his arsenal, many of which will be
revealed at a later date. For now, we can tell you about a couple of
improvements and one of the better additions to Sam's toolbelt.
Sticky Cam: The Sticky Cam is going to become much more useful in Chaos
Theory for two reasons. First, once you set up a sticky cam, you can quickly
switch back to it any time you want throughout the rest of your mission.
Secondly, you can now use multiple sticky cams. This is necessary thanks to the
deeper AI as you'll want to keep track of enemy patrols.
Med Packs: Med cabinets are found throughout each level and contain
multiple uses for curing Sam's ailments. If you haven't emptied a cabinet, you
can return at any time for an extra bandaid or injection. This turns rooms with
medkits into your default HQ or hub points from where Sam can venture out to
explore a level.
OCP: The nice new addition is the OCP attachment to Sam's pistol. The OCP
causes brief interference with electronic equipment. Instead of shooting out a
light, you can now temporarily disable the light or any other piece of
equipment. An AI enemy who notices a light flicker out will investigate, but
will generally assume that it's a technical problem and not an intruder. Should
an NPC enemy find broken glass from a shot out light bulb, they'll know there's
an intruder and enter high alert.
