First, if you had not seen the Blair Witch Project movie yet, let hurry to rent it!!! Trust me, its very important to see the movie before playing this game. Rustin Parr, the first of three games based on Blair Witch folklore, takes its name from a character, mentioned only briefly in the movie, who was arrested for the ritualistic murders of seven children. Rustin Parr was a loner living away in the forest, and after a year of voices in his head and visions of a old wise woman he became powerless to resist the impulsions planted in his head. Unable to stop himself, he drove into town and found the nearest child he could, took him back to his dirty and scary looking house in the forest and strapped him down in the basement. He collected many more children, and violently tortured and slaughtered them all, except one little boy, whom he forced to watch. When all this was done, he released the boy and came into town, saying that he was "finished". The voices suddenly went away (maybe?) This story is really pretty scary, I had seen the interview with Rustin Parr in TV before his execution and he was really WEIRD! Well, back to the game. You play the role of Doc Holliday, under the guidance and help of Spookhouse. (maybe you still remember Spookhouse from Nocturne). Numerous times you will see and be aided by The Stranger in your quest for knowledge and solving this case. BW: Rustin Parr is structured as a series of 13 acts that encompass 4 days, starting at the Spookhouse with the launch of Doc’s assignment, then moving to Burkittsville and eventually the surrounding woods. Although the game looks to be action-adventure genre, main gameplay offers minimal adventure-game interaction. I can say it's more like an interruptible movie. Holliday talks to folks in Burkittsville but the dialogues play out with no use of conversation trees or interaction from the player. Also is not possible to skip individual lines of dialogue during a conversation, you can only bypass the entire cinematic sequence. Well who cares :) The visuals is the highlight of the Nocturne Engine, which gives you unprecedented details that you've never seen in any other games, though I have found a couple of bugs - is useful to save your game often. Certainly you will need powerful computer (preferably Pentium-III with +128MB RAM and good 3D graphics accelerator). Also sound effects are excellent done, I bet you will pretty scared . BW: Rustin Parr is a very cool and very scary game, and one that will appeal to anyone who enjoys survival horror.
