Why staying up all night to complete your favourite game isn’t as crazy as it sounds

Positive feelings after a success are inevitable when it comes to winning. Whenever we sit down to play a game, we’re going to do our best to improve our chances of winning. It’s the reason we spend hours staying up all night, furiously tapping away and hoping to reach that sought-after next level.

Betway have clearly been thinking about this a lot and have conveniently come up with an infographic which looks at the science behind the seeming insanity that is countless sleepless nights, all due to playing a video game. According to this infographic, our brains are to blame for this desire to win. Specifically, a system labelled ‘the reward network’, which creates a link between successful behaviours and the reward that we get from these behaviours – the feeling of winning.

Take a look at the infographic below to gain a greater insight into why we feel the need to try so hard to get the winning feeling.
