Before Halo, before Unreal, before Quake, before them all, there was DOOM - the first person shooter that started it all. DOOM is now more than 20 years old, and still going strong!

You are right that was the first game however DOOM was the most well received and actually kicked fps into action. Maze War was literally unheard of. And wasn't Maze War really a RPG and extremely slow moving?! Maze War was kind of lame.
