LEGO DOOM - cool video - movie
(hx) 10:23 AM CEST - Oct,02 2014 - Post a comment / read (3)
Before Halo, before Unreal, before Quake, before them all, there was DOOM - the first person shooter that started it all. DOOM is now more than 20 years old, and still going strong!

Genoism> sorry man but doom was hardly the first first person shooter...

WIKIPEDIA:
quote:

The first-person shooter has since been traced as far back as Maze War, development of which began in 1973, and 1974's Spasim. The genre coalesced with 1992's Wolfenstein 3D, which has been credited with creating the genre proper and the basic archetype upon which subsequent titles were based. One such title, and the progenitor of the genre's wider mainstream acceptance and popularity was Doom, released the following year and perhaps the most influential first-person shooter; for many years, the term Doom clone was used to designate this genre due to Doom's influence

You are right that was the first game however DOOM was the most well received and actually kicked fps into action. Maze War was literally unheard of. And wasn't Maze War really a RPG and extremely slow moving?! Maze War was kind of lame.
