Blizzard justifies StarCraft II single-player bans - briefly
(hx) 01:24 AM CEST - Oct,15 2010 - Post a comment / read (11)
As I reported a couple days ago, Blizzard has began banning and suspending players using cheats and trainers in single-player and AI skirmish modes. Now Blizzard spoke to IGN on why they've carried out the bans:
Blizzard recently clarified they are not banning players just for using single-player cheat codes built into the game, however. The bans are reserved for players installing hack programs that affect both single and multiplayer portions of the game. "There's been some confusion in the last couple of days about the suspensions and bans meted out to players caught cheating in StarCraft II," Blizzard said in a statement given to IGN. "It's important to point out first, that many of the 3rd-party hacks and cheats developed for StarCraft II contain both single and multiplayer functionality.

"In order to protect the integrity of multiplayer competition, we are actively detecting cheat programs used in multiplayer modes whether there are human opponents or not." Blizzard also stated players should refrain from using game hacks and the that company will continue to take cheating very seriously. "That said, players who opt to use any type of 3rd party hacks do so at their own risk -- there are already built-in cheat codes for StarCraft II single-player that can be used safely."

yea, well, in order to protect MY investment i am using crack. So go F your self blizzard. More over, I have put my original on sale since crack works perfect. Go ban me fucktards....

NyaR(10:15 AM CEST - Oct,15 2010 )
More punishment for actual PC gamers that buy the game... like MR GX said, crack is ok.. they are encouraging piracy and killing PC gaming with this stupid stuff.
Your house, your computer, YOUR game - and you are not affecting others' gameplay. HOW CAN THEY BAN?

Koogle(11:38 AM CEST - Oct,15 2010 )
It's ok blizzard really need the money, I totally respect their fail game design/rules/banning decisions etc. I'm sure it will work out for part 2 and 3 of said game that failed to include LAN, oh hangon this is partly the reason why it didn't.

And they aren't at all a scumbag organization of dick heads (FAILID), heading and pushing a direction that I could only best describe as collective dumbification of gamers.

I refuse to support it. Blizzards business practices are borderline total scumbaggery, when it comes to EULA agreements they are forcing into the retail market. It's a bigger software licensing problem aswel but its sad to see it happening with games, where their will always be those who want to get creative with breaking the matrix, I mean the system of rules by which a game was originally constrained too.

Also bares mentioning that Blizzard admits they know if someone is playing with hacks online (Battle.net warden checks memory for any realtime code modification, dodgy grounds of privacy abuse that could lead to) yet allows multiplayer games to go ahead! So any multiplayer match someone played and lost because some opponent took advantage of using hacks(which I don't agree with), but well they just got cheated twice, the battle.net system failed them. So its easy to see how Blizzard is getting the reaction> support they wanted all along for more draconian control and enforcement banning retardation over their games. It's plain wrong!, but most won't see just how that is going to shape the future gaming scene into something that will be even worse if they don't start realizing supporting ever increasingly locked down games is actually going to cause more problems.

I guess puritan gamers believe in the way things are meant to played only by those in authority. If Blizzard makes a game design change, its ok, if anyone else does it, its not ok. This is why for multiplayer gaming(especially singleplayer) should be disconnected from a some wider network of controlling authority idiots; is always best (like LAN, because their are gamers that can play in trust or want to use better code modifications to enhance/unlock the game code into something more fun, blizzard supporting gamers want to rely on a system of enforced system game design rules and monitoring that will make their games anti-cheat protected- big fools really. Also not everyone wants to play others on some ranked/achievement/progress monitoring account record, but Blizzard wants it that way for sure ;)

The good thing is that ...control freaks will always come out as the end game losers. The bad news it's probably going to be a some time before more people realize how they are giving away to much power and control by supporting such bad game designs. It probably has a lot to do with how much time people are spending in games and companies like Blizzard are designing games this way, but who is really getting the better deal.

Diablo3's future is going to be hilarious, the D2 hacking scene was pretty big, even I eventually played the singleplayer game with code/item hacks, turned out to be much more fun. Blizzard are digging a big hole for themselves(& good) by tying offline/online in such an deceptive way, forcing gamers who do buy it, into it, not good.

Оk!
Now that i read this in many threads here, that using cheats in single player is fun, maybe someone will say its fun to use it in multi-player, but i want to ask you: How is it more fun ? Can anyone give some example ?

The way i see it it's just "put GODMODE ON" and go through the game without any worries, nerves or moving any particle in your brain.
This is just an example. I have never used any cheats, trainers, hacks or something and im really missing the point here. So, let someone willing to give some examples ?!

You know, i really enjoy playing BFBC2 now, but the people at DICE need to make a lot of improvements so that i can enjoy it even more!
Besides the cheaters that pop up from time to time on the servers i play, there are some fuckin morons that play this game and enjoy them selfs just by ruing the game of others!!!
An example of this is to park your tank in the enemy base, Acatama desert for example, and start killing everyone on spawn. This fuckin baserape is sooo fukin retarded that i cant even describe it! This is in no way a fun way to play this game!!! This is just a gay thing IMO!!!
So DICE (or somebody else, admin i dont know really) did something on one server that is really cool!
If somebody ever attacks the enemybase hi is getting warning, killed, kicked and eventually banned! This is cool! So now the game is pure skills and fun :)

gx-x(05:01 PM CEST - Oct,15 2010 )
it doesn't matter if it is more fun, you can't justify banning player that cheat in SP on accounts of that not being fun. Maybe it's not fun for you but it's fun for someone else. I used to play SC1 a lot and I found SC2 SP way to easy except for one mission. Once you get the grip of AI in skirmish mode - they are easy too. But I can see how someone can loose a game and take revenge on AI out of frustration by building like 20 Thors at start and smashing the AI...whats fun for some might not be fun to others, but as long as you don't hurt anyone no one should care, but with blizzard it's obviously not the case.

Tom(05:38 PM CEST - Oct,15 2010 )
Follow the rules stipulated in your EULA. It's that F'ing simple. Don't like it, nobody gives a shit including Blizzard. It's not just the fact they are single player trainers/cheats it's the fact these same trainers have MP things in it too to affect the game. Blizzard isn't f'ing around and neither should you. Again, refer to your F'ing EULA and stfu already.

Koogle(04:59 AM CEST - Oct,16 2010 )
..."This is just an example."

and a really bad one at that. You assume and mock people cheating because they just want Godmode? People cheat sometimes to change up the gameplay, that's not necessarily making it easier, just different. Even l4d has people enabling cheats so they can spawn models in game, and create barricade defenses, then spawn shit loads of zombies, that isn't a game mode in l4d, but then fps games do usually provide a developer console. Please take a step outside of your closed box, its not doing you any good. Multiplayer hacking is an unfortunate side, but it should be preventative per server and dealt with via server enabled anti-cheat tools.

Personally this "nerves or moving any particle in your brain. " is more likely to happen to people who have some sort of narcissistic love for grinding and wasting time doing repetitive things in the hopes a random 0.1% chance they get want they wanted... by the games original design no matter how dumb it is. And most people don't cheat the first time playing through a game anyway. In general third party hacks often just provide a way of skipping tedious time consuming tasks and getting whatever they found more fun to do. Be it using/adding items/weapons, money, skipping to better levels, etc depends on what the game is, most games have that kinda cheat stuff already built in. Third party code modifications often just go beyond whatever the developer didn't bother allowing/adding into the game. Again whatever that is depends on what the game is and how popular it is; that someone would take the time to make it etc.

yes, and I'm guessing your talking about public games and that is fine if a server wants to do that(its not the games original design & other players would be able to find other servers run by other admins), and obviously some noob sitting in a tank is taking a huge unfair advantage of just being able to spam kill, when spawning players can't match up in power weapon/armor etc (not like you spawn in a tank). But take the tank out of the equation and it was just a normal player with who had gotten to your spawn point with just a normal gun like you get on spawn. Your team perhaps including yourself would have suck so bad that they on spawn when they get full health, still can't even take down an enemy player in their base. putting in prevention to stuff like that is just pandering to noobs. More fun/challenging is then debatable. To give an example Battle Heroes, players do often goto enemy start bases or get sneaky.. I don't see anything wrong in it, if anything it just cuts down on the time I have to go wondering looking for someone to kill if they come closer to your spawn point when you spawn, just as its challenging staying alive in an enemies base when you're getting more players after you. Another thing is it also comes down to team tactics in organized games, having 1 player in an enemy base, while those spawning in that base are more distracted by that 1 player, and fail to realize it would be better to ignore said player and go after map specific goals.

Tom please shut up you ignorant tard, and fuck the one sided EULA crapola. Discussions about Blizztards arrogant policies and stupid game design will not end because you say so! Like I said before Diablo had a lot of people using mods/item hacks to make singleplayer alt chars more fun. Now it did bridge over to others wanting to do the same in multiplayer getting items that others would have to otherwise play countless times before gaining, and that is where any game developer would want to step in and prevent cheating, but if they are doing that to singleplayer aswel then what is the fucking point in offline singleplayer games. Not to mention permanently confiscating something that has been purchased. Only a fucking retard would make up shit like that, its like buying a car, then going over a speedlimit regardless of context ie empty fucking road, and then the car manufacture/government coming back to remove it from you, already pretty close to that with heavy fines on the most stupidest of things.

I guess we don't really live in a sane society, but one of batshit crazy parasites, so I suppose games have become more reflective of that insanity, but Gamers have lost the plot if this is the direction they studiedly support.

tride(12:30 PM CEST - Oct,16 2010 )
Oh Koogle, you are such a dumb ass hating paranoid wanker that i cant explain, really!
I was asking a question like a normal person and you just had to shit everything up with your dumb ass hate language.
WTF is you problem ? Did CIA put something in your brain that makes you go crazy ? Or maybe you were abducted by aliens and from time to time your ass hurts, when a satellite dish appears ???

Wtf is your problem ? Can you make a normal conversation!

Do you play BFBC2 you dumb ass son of a bitch ? I dont think so, so STFU!

Koogle(01:49 PM CEST - Oct,16 2010 )
tride that was weak, you wanted to know something and I gave my answer to it. Was it too hard to read with your narrow minded perspective on things?

"that i cant explain, really! "

yeah I do believe you, I don't think you could explain shit, let alone understand it. Probably why you've had to go all crazy bananas on me.

"Can you make a normal conversation! "

translation: "I'm a noob, just tell me what I want to hear. I can't be bothered to go look for the information and try understand why others would have a different opinion on something."

"Do you play BFBC2 you dumb ass son of a bitch ? I dont think so, so STFU!"

yeah I have played it, and cry baby 'dumb ass' whiners are in every game, get some skill and learn to read. p.s I fully agreed with your server admin taking extra measure to balance the game in that particular tank instance. Now STFU aswel yeah ;)

Baconnaise(09:27 AM CEST - Oct,17 2010 )
I find the bannings to be circumspect personally. We have no clue what they actually look for and how.

It look slike a douche move but honestly couldn't care less as I have it uninstalled and even then I would just use a cracked exe to cheat in SP.

Tom(08:54 PM CEST - Oct,17 2010 )
Koogle, remember to take your medication ok?

You are sounding like a wanker for sure. At least yor fingers are in shape, if you aren't spouting crap on here typing big blah blah blah responses which I barely read anyhow, your fingers are busy in your nose and mouth.
