Borderlands 4 vs 3: What Went Horribly Wrong - tech
(hx) 06:41 PM CEST - Sep,19 2025 - Post a comment
With all news on Borderlands 4 being so badly optimized for PC I thought I just had to try it and not only that, test it on two mid-range GPUs (the RTX 5060 Ti and RX 9060 XT), but also compare it graphically and performance wise... to... it's predecessor and easy comparison (at least I thought so).

iPhone 17 Pro VS iPhone 16 Pro VS iPhone 15 Pro VS iPhone 14 Pro - tech
(hx) 10:16 AM CEST - Sep,14 2025 - Post a comment / read (1)
Apple has announced this year's iPhone lineup, the iPhone 17 series. Instead of a "Plus" model, Apple has introduced a new iPhone Air that's extra-thin and more premium than a Plus model. New in the standard and Pro models are: a new 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera with a larger, square sensor that can capture portrait or landscape orientation without turning the phone, and has automatic framing (cropping). Also new is that all rear cameras are 48-megapixel "Fusion" cameras that perform different functions in 12-megapixel (pixel binning) or 48-megapixel mode (which defaults to 24 megapixel output). In the standard iPhone 17, this means a main camera that can double as a (12MP) 2x telephoto camera, plus a wide-angle camera that can double as a (12MP) macro camera. The Pro models add a 4x telephoto camera that can double as a (12MP) 8x telephoto camera. Apple has also introduced Ceramic Shield 2 display glass across the lineup, which it claims offers 3x better scratch resistance. The iPhone 17 gains a new display that's larger (6.3 inches vs. 6.1), has ProMotion dynamic refresh (1–120 Hz), and has an always-on feature. It also gains faster wired charging. A new A19 chip in the iPhone 17 offers 20% faster graphics performance and puts neural accelerators in the GPU cores for the first time. The Pro models come with an even-more-powerful A19 Pro chip assisted by a new vapor-chamber thermal management system. The Pro models come with the largest battery ever in an iPhone, which is even slightly larger in regional versions without a physical SIM card slot. The Pro models also gain ProRes RAW video capture and Genlock (with optional hardware accessory.) The Pro models have an all-new look with an aluminum (instead of titanium) unibody design and larger "plateau" camera hump. All models now come with a minimum 256 GB of storage. In the standard iPhone 17, this means double the memory for the same $799 starting price. However the iPhone 17 Pro sees the starting price hike from $999 to $1099. The iPhone 17 Pro Max (with its larger 6.9-inch display) starts as $1199, just like last year's model.

The first Ryzen 9000F CPU is now official - tech
(hx) 10:58 AM CEST - Sep,07 2025 - Post a comment
Ryzen 5 9500F is a 6-core Zen 5 processor confirmed to use Granite Ridge silicon, available only in China. AMD announced the new SKU today through its official website and online store. The company clearly states that availability is limited to China, making this a country-exclusive SKU, which is rather uncommon. The 9500F features 6 Zen 5 cores and 12 threads, with boost clocks up to 5.0 GHz. It is rated at 65W TDP and includes 32MB of L3 cache. On paper, it runs 200 MHz slower than the Ryzen 5 9600, an OEM-only SKU that is still widely available at retail. The 9500F may be harder to purchase given its regional restriction. The Ryzen 5 9500F is priced at 1,299 RMB (about $181 before taxes and shipping). At this price point, the Ryzen 5 9600 or even the 9600X may be better options, as both are also under $200.
AMD’s website listing confirms that the 9500F lacks integrated graphics. As with other F-series models, it does not include RDNA2 cores found in the IOD. Interestingly, there is no Ryzen 7 9700F listed on the Chinese site, leaving open the possibility that this SKU may launch globally or not be released at all. AMD has shared a comparison between the Ryzen 5 9500F and Ryzen 5 7500F in gaming:
    Watch Dogs: Legion +7%
    Far Cry 6  +8%
    PUBG +15%
    DOTA 2 +15%
    Borderlands 3 +18%
    CS:GO 2 (Counter-Strike 2) +24%

NVIDIA Dissects GB10 Superchip SoC with 20 CPU Cores and 6,144 CUDA GPU Cores - tech
(d@rkfu) 06:19 PM CEST - Aug,27 2025 - Post a comment / read (2)
At Hot Chips 2025, NVIDIA offered a detailed look at the GB10 "Grace Blackwell" superchip, presenting a compact multi-die design meant to bring datacenter capabilities to a desktop-sized workstation. The chip pairs a MediaTek-sourced Arm CPU die with a Blackwell GPU die in a 2.5D package built on TSMC's 3 nm process. The CPU side implements 20 Arm v9.2 cores split into two clusters of ten, each cluster backed by a 16 MB shared L3 (32 MB total) while each core retains private L2 storage. The memory subsystem is a unified LPDDR5X-9400 fabric on a 256-bit bus, supporting up to 128 GB and delivering roughly 301 GB/s of raw bandwidth to the package. High-speed I/O is concentrated on the CPU die, while NVMe storage and peripherals ride PCIe lanes there, and a ConnectX-7 NIC is attached via a PCIe Gen 5 x8 link to enable multi-unit networking.

NVIDIA described the GPU die as a scaled Blackwell configuration tuned for low-power, small-form-factor operation. The quoted peak throughput is approximately 31 TeraFLOPS for FP32 and around 1,000 TOPS when using NVIDIA's NVFP4 reduced-precision format. The GPU carries a large 24 MB L2 that can act as a higher-level cache visible to the CPU, creating a coherent cache hierarchy across the two dies. NVIDIA states that the inter-die C2C link offers aggregate bandwidth on the order of 600 GB/s, enabling low-latency sharing without requiring heavy software-managed copying. The package is rated at approximately 140 W TDP and exposes multi-display outputs (DisplayPort alt-mode plus HDMI 2.1a options) alongside security and virtualization features intended for professional workloads.

NVIDIA has framed DGX Spark as a "gateway" workstation that runs DGX Base OS and the company's AI stack locally, then scales workloads to larger DGX systems or cloud hosts as needed; the vendor lists a reference price of $3,999. What is interesting is that GB10 SoC is setting the stage for consumer-grade N1/N1x SoC, which will reportedly use a similar GPU and CPU configuration. The computing power of the GB10 SoC superchip is more than enough for a consumer laptop, so we are waiting to see what NVIDIA plans for N1/N1x chips.
