Right after the recent findings that Starforce will reboot your computer when it find "suspicious" activity, it has now been found it also travels across networks - to be more exact, they describe a disturbing worm-like behavior from StarForce drivers using 'multidropper type techniques' to spread across network drives. The update then relates the ugly back and forth over the treatment discussion of the topic in the StarForce forums, with the opposing sides accusing each other of lies and libel. (thanks BluesNews)

Starforce Enforces Copy Protection by Reboot - tech
(hx) 12:25 PM CET - Mar,21 2006 - Post a comment / read (4)
Futuremark has reportedly discovered a new anti-piracy system that is being used by Starforce. This copy protection system installs a driver that runs at the highest level of access on the system, which gives it low level access to the PCs hardware and any drivers and processes. This driver runs regardless of whether the game runs; keeping an eye out for any suspicious activity such as attempting to copy a protected disc. If something suspicious is detected, it forces the PC to make an immediate reboot, regardless of any other applications running and whether or not the user has any unsaved work.

Here is a listing of StarForce protected games that is frequently updated from the Boycott StarForce website. The best thing is to boycott these products until it is safe to use them again.

New NVIDIA Drivers For Elder Scrolls IV Coming - tech
(hx) 12:03 PM CET - Mar,20 2006 - Post a comment / read (1)
NVIDIA has announced plans to release a new ForceWare 84.25 version of their graphics card drivers on Wednesday March 22nd at NZone. This new version ForceWare 84.25 will contain specific performance enhances to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion being released Monday the 20th.
Our developer relations team worked closely with Bethesda to optimize game performance, which also included making some driver changes to fix/enhance performance in certain areas.

Our performance testing shows no two benchmark runs are identical in exterior scenes, due to Oblivion randomly placing grass and rocks, changing the amount of grass, and varying other aspects of the terrain.
