NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers 610.47 WHQL Drops Control Panel Support - tech
(hx) 09:22 PM CEST - May,26 2026 - Post a comment / read (3)
NVIDIA has released its latest GeForce Graphics Drivers 610.47 WHQL today, introducing significant changes for consumer PC users. With this driver update, NVIDIA is retiring its Control Panel for GeForce Game Ready and Studio Drivers after 20 years of service. Starting with this version, users will find the Control Panel completely removed from their system after a clean installation. Those updating from older drivers to the newest version will need to remove the Control Panel manually. Interestingly, NVIDIA notes that despite officially dropping support with this release, the Control Panel will still be available for download through the Microsoft Store for anyone who needs it to adjust a few settings. From NVIDIA's side, there will no longer be any feature updates, bug fixes, or maintenance for this software. However, enterprise users will retain access to the Control Panel for a few more update cycles, as RTX PRO GPU users on their driver branch will continue to receive support.

The company is migrating all Control Panel functionality to the NVIDIA App, meaning that even professional users of RTX PRO GPUs will eventually transition to the NVIDIA App once enterprise features are enabled. In other related updates, the GeForce Graphics Drivers 610.47 WHQL also includes an updated CUDA version, now running v13.3, and game-ready support for "007 First Light," "LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight," "EA SPORTS F1 25: 2026 Season Pack," and "World of Tanks: HEAT." This driver release also addresses some general bug fixes, such as improving multi-monitor gaming stability when using V-SYNC, although issues with power management for mobile GPUs on Windows remain.

Chinese GPU Sells 30K Units in 48 Hours Despite Weak Benchmarks - tech
(hx) 10:08 PM CEST - May,25 2026 - Post a comment / read (1)
A Chinese company called Lisuan Tech sold over 30,000 units of its new LX 7G100 gaming GPU in just two days.

The card, priced at $485, performed more like an older RTX 3060 in reviews and failed to match the RTX 4060 it was marketed against.
Lisuan Tech often markets the LX 7G100 as a competitor to the GeForce RTX 4060. However, reviews have revealed that the LX 7G100 didn't hit the performance goal. Instead, it's more along the lines of a GeForce RTX 3060, one generation behind the target, and two generations behind the latest GeForce RTX 5060. The issue was that Lisuan Tech priced the LX 7G100 like a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB; however, it seems the high price didn't impede its early adoption at all.

Borrowing a page from Nvidia's playbook, Lisuan Tech launched a special Founders Edition of the LX 7G100, mirroring the approach that Nvidia takes with some of its mainstream GeForce RTX graphics cards. This exclusive batch was limited to just 1,000 LX 7G100 Founders Edition units. Each graphics card is individually numbered and personally signed by Lisuan Tech’s co-founder and co-CEO, Xuan Yifang. The initial batch sold out almost instantly, but the company has announced that a second batch of Founders Edition cards will be released and ready for shipping on June 18.
SSD Prices Explode - PS5 Upgrades Could Hit $2,000+ - tech

Intel is developing Nova Lake CPUs specifically for edge computing applications. These chips will feature 8 E-cores based on the Arctic Wolf architecture and a powerful integrated GPU with 12 Xe3P cores.

This all-E-core design with strong graphics aims to deliver solid performance for edge platforms. The configuration focuses on efficiency and graphics capabilities rather than high-end desktop power. BGA packaging is expected for these variants.
The configuration that was mentioned features 8 E-Cores based on the Arctic Wolf architecture and 12 Xe3P iGPU cores. This is an interesting configuration based on its all-E-Core and strong iGPU combo. The chip seemingly aims to provide powerful integrated graphics capabilities to Edge platforms, and 12 Xe3P cores should offer decent capabilities, as 12 Xe3 cores already offer great performance on the Panther Lake lineup.

When asked about whether the CPU will come in socketed designs, the leaker stated that Edge platforms will stick with a BGA design, but there are plans for Nova Lake for entry-level Xeons with 12 Xe3P cores, too.
The Nova Lake lineup is expected to launch later this year.

Windows users with +16GB of RAM performance boost - tech
(hx) 09:19 PM CEST - May,20 2026 - Post a comment / read (3)
Windows users with 16GB of RAM or more can boost performance by disabling a built-in memory compression feature.

This tweak uses a simple PowerShell command: Disable-MMAgent -MemoryCompression (run as admin, then restart).

On high-RAM systems, Windows rarely needs to compress memory pages, so the background CPU work for compressing and decompressing can cause minor overhead and stutters—especially in games. Disabling it frees up those cycles for smoother gameplay and responsiveness.

Keep it enabled if you have less than 16GB RAM, as it prevents heavy use of slow disk paging. Results vary, so test it and re-enable with Enable-MMAgent -MemoryCompression if needed. This popular gaming optimization has circulated for years on forums and YouTube.

This is a longstanding community tweak with no single origin, but it's widely discussed since at least 2015–2017 on SuperUser, Reddit, Steam guides, and Microsoft forums.

ASUS Fake Copper Scandal Hits Premium ROG Board - tech
(hx) 05:42 PM CEST - May,20 2026 - Post a comment / read (1)
ASUS is facing criticism for using copper-colored aluminum heatsinks on its new ROG Crosshair 2006 anniversary motherboard instead of real copper.

The board aims to recreate the retro look of the 2006 original with its flashy orange-toned cooling fins, but tech site FanlessTech revealed they're just anodized aluminum.

Real copper offers better heat transfer, making this a letdown for a high-end AMD X870E board that carries a premium price tag.

As copper prices rise, this cost-cutting move may signal a wider industry shift away from the material.
