AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Driver Update - tech

AMD on Tuesday announced a brand new version of its software suite for Radeon graphics cards that delivers 20 new or updated features and promises enhanced performance – on average, an increase of around 12 percent – across more than a dozen games, all in a fully revamped application sporting a fresh look. Diving right in, AMD reportedly references a baker’s dozen of games in its press deck that’ll benefit from the new Adrenaline 2020 Edition software including Borderlands 3, Forza Horizon 4 and Wolfenstein: Young Blood, just to name a few. Raw performance improvements aside, AMD’s latest affords a number of compelling new features including Radeon Boost. This feature detects mouse movements in games – like when you are moving around during an action sequence – and by dynamically reducing image resolution, is able to boost frame rates and fluidity with little to no change in discernible image quality. According to AMD, Radeon Boost can enhance performance by as much as 23 percent in applicable scenarios. In testing, our own Tim Schiesser noted that it works strictly based on mouse movements and isn’t influenced by other factors like on-screen action or even inputs from other devices such as controllers or your keyboard. Simply, the more your mouse is moving, the more aggressively the feature works.



Other noteworthy features and updates include integer display scaling which is designed to make older, resolution-limited games look better on modern, high-res displays via pixel perfect upscaling as well as expanded support for Radeon Anti-Lag and Radeon Image Sharpening.

Do people still use Windows 7? Absolutely. And if they cling to it past January 14 of this coming year, they’ll have to pay a fee to Microsoft to continue to receive security updates. Most people won't (and can't) do this, as Microsoft’s paid security updates are geared only toward businesses, but a clever little hack allows normal people to take advantage of this service - for free. What you should do? You have to first install three prerequisite updates to your Windows 7 system: KB4490628, KB4474419, and KB4523206. Restart your system as needed.

Then download the BypassESU tool (password: heslo). Install it, and you should then be able to install this test Extended Security Update (KB4528069). The BypassESU tool should allow you to circumvent the check Microsoft puts in place for Extended Security Updates. Once this update installs successfully, you should even be able to uninstall the BypassESU tool, as you’ll now be authenticated for future security updates. Of course, Microsoft might invalidate this little workaround and/or alter how it authenticates for Windows 7 Extended Security Updates. As the readme.txt file for the BypassESU tool notes:

NVIDIA today released the latest version of its GeForce Software. Version 441.66 WHQL is game-ready for "MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries" and "Detroit: Become Human." The drivers also fix an application crash with DaVinci Resolve when playing back timeline using Blackmagic RAW CODEC media; a stutter noticed after a few laps with "Forza Motorsport 7," a frame-rate drop noticed in "Fallout 76" with G-Sync enabled, an incorrect video memory size reported in NVIDIA Control Panel with GTX 1060 6 GB, and lack of a 5.1-ch or 7.1-ch surround sound option with GTX 1080 Ti.

Intel Claims i5-9600KF Better than 3800X - tech

Intel marketing is at it again, making sweeping performance claims about its embattled 9th generation Core processors against AMD's 3rd generation Ryzen. In a recent press conference in China, the company was shown claiming that its mid-tier 6-core/6-thread Core i5-9600KF is a "better" processor than AMD's 8-core/16-thread Ryzen 7 3800X. This claim is hard to defend with gaming, when even the "slower" 3700X is seen performing within 1% of the i5-9600K (identical CPU specs to the i5-9600KF) at gaming, and 22 percent faster at CPU tests, beating the i9-9900K in quite a few multi-threaded tests. The marketing slide makes four key claims: 1. that Intel processors are faster in 'real-world' use-cases (gaming, home/office, light content-creation), ; 2. that with boost-frequencies reaching 4.60 GHz, the higher IPC of these chips benefit gaming; 3. that the K-series chips easily overclock to 5.00 GHz yielding even more performance; and 4. that Intel processors have "smooth and stable drivers" compared to AMD. As if that wasn't bad enough, the slide claims that the 4-core/4-thread Core i3-9350KF is "better" than the 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 3600X, and the entry-level i3-9100F being better than the 6-core/6-thread Ryzen 5 3500. This incident closely follows its September gaffe that sought to sourgrape AMD's HEDT creator performance leadership by discrediting its lead in certain applications by claiming they don't reflect "real world usage." Making Intel's test relevance claims comically wrong was the fact that it used app usage data gathered exclusively from notebooks.

Users on Winidows 10 version 1809 are starting to be moved to 1909 - tech

The Windows 10 November Update, or version 1909, has been available for a few weeks now, but so far, it's been optional for everyone. This is because of changes made to Windows updates earlier this year, which mean that Windows 10 feature updates no longer get automatically installed when users search for updates. However, for users running last year's version 1809, the latest update is now going to start being installed automatically, as noted in the release information page for the latest version of Windows 10.
Current status as of December 5, 2019:
Windows 10, version 1909 is available for any user on a recent version of Windows 10 who manually selects “Check for updates” via Windows Update. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel.
 
Beginning today, we will slowly start the phased process to automatically initiate a feature update for devices running the October 2018 Update (Windows 10, version 1809) Home and Pro editions, keeping those devices supported and receiving the monthly updates that are critical to device security and ecosystem health. We are starting this rollout process several months in advance of the end of service date to provide adequate time for a smooth update process.

AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.12.1 Drivers - tech

AMD Monday released the latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin. Version 19.12.1 beta adds support for the new Radeon RX 5300M graphics. It also fixes a major issue with Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards stuttering at 1080p with low game settings. A crash-to-desktop noticed on machines with RX 5700-series graphics playing "The Outer Worlds" has also been fixed.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 To Launch Come Dec 12th - tech

According to a source cited by China's Ithome, AMD has contacted AIB with regards to launch plans for the company's RX 5500, the mainstream graphics cards based on Navi 14. For now, there are still no news on any RX 5500 XT graphics cards from the company - whether or not there is such as SKU being prepared for later launch is still unclear. The launch date of December 12th is in line with previous release expectations, and should be a full launch with multiple AIB partners releasing their solutions. The RX 5500 has been tested to be a competitor to NVIDIA's GTX 1660 graphics card, replacing AMD's RX 570, RX 580 and RX 590 graphics cards from the product stack. The Navi 14 chip that the RX 5500 is based on TSMC's 7 nm manufacturing technology, is configured with 22 RDNA compute units (1,408 stream processors), and features a 128-bit wide GDDR6 memory bus. VRAM-wise it will be available in either 4 GB or 8 GB of memory running at 14 Gbps data-rate, yielding 224 GB/s of memory bandwidth. GPU clocks are listed as 1670 MHz "Boost," and 1845 MHz "Gaming". Typical board power is rated at 110 W, with a single 8-pin PCIe power input being enough to deliver required power save for some more exotic AIB designs.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce 441.41 Game Ready Drivers - tech

NVIDIA today released the latest version of GeForce software. Version 441.41 WHQL comes game-ready for "Halo: Reach," which includes performance optimization and bug fixes specific to the game. The drivers also include optimization for "Quake II RTX v1.2" update, which includes higher-resolution textures and more lighting content. With GeForce 441.41, NVIDIA has also added OpenGL and Vulkan API support for Image Sharpening. With this, NVIDIA's implementation of Image Sharpening beats AMD's by supporting two APIs AMD doesn't yet: DirectX 11 and OpenGL. Both AMD and NVIDIA support DirectX 9, DirectX 12, and Vulkan. GeForce 441.41 also address a handful bugs, beginning with "Red Dead Redemption 2." A bug has been fixed, which was causing RDR2 benchmark to crash on systems with SLI playing the game with its Vulkan renderer. Another bug that caused stalling on machines with certain 4-core and 6-core CPUs has been fixed. A "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" game crash at startup in DirectX 12 mode has been fixed. Also fixed is a "low streaming bandwidth" error in "Forza Horizon 4" after extended periods of gameplay.

7nm Intel Xe GPUs Codenamed 'Ponte Vecchio' - tech

Intel's first Xe GPU built on the company's 7 nm silicon fabrication process will be codenamed "Ponte Vecchio," according to a VideoCardz report. These are not gaming GPUs, but rather compute accelerators designed for exascale computing, which leverage the company's CXL (Compute Express Link) interconnect that has bandwidth comparable to PCIe gen 4.0, but with scalability features slated to come out with future generations of PCIe. Intel is preparing its first enterprise compute platform featuring these accelerators codenamed "Project Aurora," in which the company will exert end-to-end control over not just the hardware stack, but also the software. "Project Aurora" combines up to six "Ponte Vecchio" Xe accelerators with up to two Xeon multi-core processors based on the 7 nm "Sapphire Rapids" microarchitecture, and OneAPI, a unifying API that lets a single kind of machine code address both the CPU and GPU. With Intel owning the x86 machine architecture, it's likely that Xe GPUs will feature, among other things, the ability to process x86 instructions. The API will be able to push scalar workloads to the CPU, and and the GPU's scalar units, and vector workloads to the GPU's vector-optimized SIMD units. Intel's main pitch to the compute market could be significantly lowered software costs from API and machine-code unification between the CPU and GPU.

Windows 10 Nov 2019 Update 1909 Released - tech

Microsoft late Tuesday released its second major update to Windows 10 for the year, the Windows 10 November 2019 Update (version 1909). This update beats conventions in that is "minor" in comparison to the Windows 10 May 2019 (1903) Update, in that Microsoft didn't change too many under-the-hood components, but updated the operating system's user-interface. For example, the operating system retains the older version's driver model. The Actions Center received several UI updates such as the ability to add items to your agenda directly from the calendar, improved sorting of notifications, improved accessibility of the Start menu, and the ability to use third-party accessibility software from even the Lock screen. The only notable under-the-hood changes concern the scheduler. Windows 10 now gets the ability to address multiple "favored" cores in a multi-core processor. A favored core is a physically superior core that can sustain higher boost clocks for longer.

Microsoft plans to release this feature update as an optional update, which means that it won’t download and install until you manually start the process from the Windows Update settings page. However, if your device is running a version of the Windows 10 that’s nearing the end of life, then eventually version 1909 will install automatically.

  • A change to enable third-party digital assistants to voice activate above the Lock screen.
  • You can now quickly create an event straight from the Calendar flyout on the Taskbar. Just select the date and time at the lower right corner of the Taskbar to open the Calendar flyout and pick your desired date and start typing in the text box-you'll now see inline options to set a time and location.
  • The navigation pane on the Start menu now expands when you hover over it with your mouse to better inform where clicking goes.
  • We have added friendly images to show what is meant by "banner" and "Action Center" when adjusting the notifications on apps in order to make these settings more approachable and understandable.
  • Notifications settings under Settings > System > Notifications will now default to sorting notification senders by most recently shown notification, rather than sender name. This makes it easier to find and configure frequent and recent senders. We have also added a setting to turn off playing sound when notifications appear.
  • We now show the options to configure and turn off notifications from an app/website right on the notification, both as a banner and in Action Center.
  • We have added a "Manage notifications" button to the top of Action Center that launches the main "Notifications & actions" Settings page.
  • We have added additional debugging capabilities for newer Intel processors. This is only relevant for hardware manufacturers.
  • We have made general battery life and power efficiency improvements for PCs with certain processors.
  • A CPU may have multiple "favored" cores (logical processors of the highest available scheduling class). To provide better performance and reliability, we have implemented a rotation policy that distributes work more fairly among these favored cores.

  • We have enabled the ability for enterprises to supplement the Windows 10 in S Mode policy to allow traditional Win32 (desktop) apps from Microsoft Intune.
  • We're updating the search box in File Explorer to now be powered by Windows Search. This change will help integrate your OneDrive content online with the traditional indexed results.

NVIDIA today posted GeForce 441.20 WHQL software. The drivers come game-ready for "Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order," and "Stormland." This includes SLI support for the latest Star Wars game. NVIDIA also introduced support for CUDA 10.2 compute API. The list of G-Sync compatible monitors has been expanded with three more displays. Among the issues addressed with this release are geometry corruption on GTX 900-series "Maxwell" GPUs with "Red Dead Redemption" in Vulkan; G-Sync getting disengaged when V-Sync is disabled in "Red Dead Redemption." Vulkan-related errors with "The Surge" have also been fixed. There's also a surprising bug-fix, "Quake 3 Arena" appearing washed-out when color-depth is set to 16-bit. Performance drops with "CS: GO" have also been addressed.

AMD Announces Ryzen 9 3950X - tech

Today, AMD introduced the third-generation of Ryzen Threadripper processors for creative professionals, starting at a whopping $1399. But if you don't need that much power, AMD also announced the release date for the Ryzen 9 3950X CPU, which was announced in June and later delayed. As the top-tier offering in the Ryzen lineup, the Ryzen 9 3950X has 16 cores and 32 threads, with a base clock speed of 3.5GHz that can boost up to 4.7GHz. It has 72MB of cache and 44 PCIe lanes in conjunction with an X570 motherboard. The TDP matches the Ryzen 9 3900X at 105W. Just like the new Threadripper CPUs, the new AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is coming on November 25, and it will cost $749 - a significant step up from the 12-core 3900X, which cost $499 when it was announced. For "mainstream" desktop computers, AMD also announced a new Athlon processor today, the Athlon 3000G. It's the first Athlon processor based on the Zen architecture that can be overclocked, and it also comes with Radeon Vega 3 graphics. It has two cores and four threads running at 3.5GHz. The TDP is just 35W and it will cost $49 when it launches on November 19.



Lastly, AMD announced a fascinating new platform feature called ECO Mode. Applicable to all socket AM4 processors that have "Zen 2" CPU cores (Ryzen 5 3500 and above), ECO Mode is essentially a cTDP (configurable TDP) implementation for the desktop platform. You flick a toggle in Ryzen Master, and the processor's TDP is capped at 65 Watts on-the-fly. So when not gaming or doing serious work, you can turn on ECO Mode and ensure your processor never draws more than 65 Watts. For the mighty Ryzen 9 3950X, ECO Mode offers 77 percent performance, but 44 percent lower power-draw, and 7°C lower temperatures.

Microsoft Unveils Project Silica - tech

Microsoft's cloud computing business unveiled Project Silica, a cold-storage device that's designed to stand the test of time. Essentially an optical storage media, it is a 7.5 cm x 7.5 mm x 2 mm square piece of glass that can store up to 75.6 GB of data (inclusive of error-correction code). Unlike conventional optical media such as CD or Blu-ray, which relies on etching pits of different lengths on a plastic substrate to denote ones and zeros, project silica uses nanoscale gratings and deformations, while AI is used for error-correction to overcome any aging of the media. The company developed a proof-of-concept using quartz glass. "A laser encodes data in glass by creating layers of three-dimensional nanoscale gratings and deformations at various depths and angles. Machine learning algorithms read the data back by decoding images and patterns that are created as polarized light shines through the glass," writes Microsoft in its description of how Project Silica works. CD can typically hold data for 1-2 centuries provided that the disc is stored properly. After that, the plastic physical layer decays, losing data integrity. Project Silica, on the other hand, is designed to be resilient not just in a box, but also outside it. The media can "withstand being boiled in hot water, baked in an oven, microwaved, flooded, scoured, demagnetized and [withstand] other environmental threats that can destroy priceless historic archives or cultural treasures if things go wrong," says Microsoft.

Intel Ice Lake-SP and Cooper Lake-SP Details - tech

Brainbox, a Korean media outlet, has information on Intel's newest Ice Lake and Cooper Lake server processors from a presentation ASUS held for its server lineup. With Cooper Lake-SP paving the way for the first server CPU model to be released on the new "Whitley" platform, it is supposed to launch in Q2 of 2020. Cooper Lake-SP comes with TDP of 300 W and will be available with configurations of up to 48 cores, but there also should be a 56 core model like the Xeon Platinum 9282, that has a TDP of 400 W. Cooper Lake-SP supports up to 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes, 8 channel memory (16 DIMMs in total) that goes up to 3200 MHz and four Ultra Path Interconnect (UPI) links.

Ice Lake-SP, built on the new 10 nm+ manufacturing process, is coming in soon after Cooper Lake-SP release, with a launch window in Q3 of 2020. That is just few months apart from previous CPU launch, so it will be a bit hard to integrate the launches of two rather distinct products. As far as the specifications of Ice Lake-SP goes, it will have up to 38 core for the top end model, within 270 W TDP. It supports 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes with three UPI links. There is also 8 channel memory support, however this time there is an option to use 2nd generation Optane DC Persistent Memory. Both CPU uArches will run on the new LGA 4189 on the P+ socket.

DirectX 12 is getting better at ray tracing according to Microsoft. The DXR 1.0 API, which brought us that cool Star Wars Raytracing tech demo (below) last year, is moving to version 1.1 with features that provide greater efficiency and more flexibility. It is currently in testing, but should be available next year. DX12 will also have a slew of other features as well.

The Outer Worlds, by Obsidian Entertainment is a futuristic first-person action-RPG that's set in a dystopian future in which corporations have become mega-corporations and started colonizing and terraforming planets in star systems they own. In order to travel the large distances in space, workers are put into cryosleep for several years before having to go to work. You are one such worker, trapped in a vessel stranded in space due to its failed hyperdrive and woken up to help rescue the other shipmates. Outer Worlds tries to be more of a real RPG than other similar releases in this genre. Think of a mix of Fallout, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age with some Skyrim sprinkled on top of that.



Under the hood, Outer Worlds uses Epic's Unreal Engine 4 with the DirectX 11 API. While graphics are not nearly as good as in Borderlands 3, the game is demanding on hardware. The chaps over at TechPowerUp have put it through their collection of 23 graphics cards across three key resolutions—1080p, 1440p, and 4K Ultra HD—to show you what you need to get this title on the road. Looks like the AMD cards are struggling to deliver good FPS, howewer,things do look better for NVIDIA, Full HD 60 FPS is achievable with the GTX 1660 Ti, 1440p@60 is in reach with RTX 2060 Super, and the mighty RTX 2080 Ti gets 51 FPS at 4K.

Intel Core i9-10980XE "Cascade Lake-X" Benchmarked - tech

One of the first reviews of Intel's new flagship HEDT processor, the Core i9-10980XE, just hit the web. Lab501.ro got their hands on a freshly minted i9-10980XE and put it through their test bench. Based on the "Cascade Lake-X" silicon, the i9-10980XE offers almost identical IPC to "Skylake-X," but succeeds the older generation with AI-accelerating DLBoost instruction-set, an improved multi-core boosting algorithm, higher clock speeds, and most importantly, a doubling in price-performance achieved by cutting the cores-per-Dollar metric by half, across the board. Armed with 18 cores, the i9-10980XE is ahead of the 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X in rendering and simulation tests, although not by much (for a chip that has 50% more cores). This is probably attributed to the competing AMD chip being able to sustain higher all-core boost clock speeds. In tests that not only scale with cores, but are also hungry for memory bandwidth, such as 7-zip and Media, Intel extends its lead thanks to its quad-channel memory interface that's able to feed its cores with datasets faster. As we move to gaming and gaming-related 3D benchmarks, we see the i9-10980XE only marginally ahead of the 3900X in the 3DMark Physics test.
AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.10.2 Drivers - tech

AMD has released the Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.10.2 beta drivers. These drivers bring improved support for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," which sees up to 18% better performance on the Ultra preset when using a Radeon RX 5700 XT. "The Outer Worlds" also sees improved support and sees 8% better performance at the Very High preset again on the Radeon RX 5700 XT. Improved support and better performance are always welcome; however, this release also offers some much-needed fixes, including application hang in Borderlands 3, which will likely make quite a few gamers happy. Intel to Halve Prices of 7th and 9th Gen Processors - tech

In a bid to clear out inventories of its 7th and 9th generation Core X HEDT processors based on the "Skylake-X" silicon, Intel is preparing to halve prices of leftover inventory in the retail channel. The move is triggered by the company's own recent launch of the 10th generation Core i9 'Cascade Lake-X' processors that are compatible with existing socket LGA2066 motherboards. With 'Cascade Lake-X,' Intel halved the Dollars-per-core metric across the board (i.e. doubled the performance-per-Dollar), resulting in its top 18-core i9-10980XE being priced under the $1000-mark, half of what the i9-9980XE once commanded. With prices of Core X 'Skylake-X' chips being halved, you can expect the market to be flooded with 7th and 9th generation chips that are priced marginally lesser than their 10th gen 'Cascade Lake-X' siblings. The single-thread performance (IPC) is identical between the three generations. All that's changed with 'Cascade Lake-X' is the introduction of the DLBoost instruction-set that speeds up AI applications (irrelevant to gamers), and an improved Turbo Boost algorithm that spreads boost clocks across more cores, including Favored Cores capability that will come alive with Windows 10 2H19 update. If you've been on one of the cheaper 8-core or 10-core LGA2066 chips, your upgrade options just increased.

Xiaomi Launches Mi Surface Display Gaming Monitors - tech

Xiaomi, the China-based electronics juggernaut that has carved itself into most markets with its aggressive price/performance ratios, has just announced two new gaming monitors in its new Mi Surface Display lineup. First up is a 34", 21:9 UltraWide monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440. This one also carries a 144 Hz refresh rate monitor with support for AMD FreeSync (which might also mean it is G-Sync compatible). This same panel offers a 1500R curvature, which is somewhat treated as a must in larger diagonal 21:9 monitors, and Xiaomi is quoting a 5 ms GtG response time, which, paired with the 144 Hz refresh rate, should be more than enough for all but the most seriously competitive gamers. Color coverage is being quoted at 121% of the sRGB color gamut. The bezels are reportedly around the 2mm mark in the 34" model. The stand and the monitor's connection is ensured by a magnetic clasp. The 34" monitor is being joined by a 1080p, 24" monitor as well, of which there were no additional details being shared. Connectivity details also weren't shared at time of writing. Xiaomi's new Mi Surface Display 34" is priced at 2,499 Yuan (around $352).

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER launches October 29th - tech

NVIDIA has confirmed that a new variant for its GTX1660 GPUs, the GTX 1660 SUPER, will come out on October 29th. According to Videocardz, the GeForce GTX 1660 Super will launch at $229 (MSRP). Pricing will naturally vary on custom models, depending on things like the cooling solution and whether or not there is a factory overclock, among other features. However, the $229 MSRP is just $10 more than the regular GeForce GTX 1660. It's nice to see so little movement in the price for an upgraded card—$10 is not much of a spike. Granted, both the GeForce RTX 2080 Super and GeForce RTX 2070 Super launched at the same MSRPs as the non-Super variants ($699 and $499, respectively), but the GeForce RTX 2060 Super debuted for $50 more than the GeForce RTX 2060 ($399 versus $349). As for the specifications, here's how the GeForce GTX 1660 Super compares to its neighboring Turing cards, based on leaked data:

- GeForce GTX 1660 Ti: 1,536 CUDA cores, 1,500MHz base / 1,770MHz boost, 6GB GDDR6 (12Gbps) on 192-bit bus
- GeForce GTX 1660 Super: 1,408 CUDA cores, 1530MHz base / 1785MHz boost, 6GB GDDR6 (14Gbps) on 192-bit bus
- GeForce GTX 1660: 1,408 CUDA cores, 1,530MHz base / 1,785MHz boost, 6GB GDDR5 (8Gbps) on 192-bit bus
- GeForce GTX 1650: 896 CUDA cores, 1,485MHz base / 1,665MHz boost, 4GB GDDR5 (8Gbps) on 128-bit bus

In short, the GeForce GTX 1660 Super will get an upgrade from GDDR5 (8Gbps) memory to GDDR6 (14Gbps), while retaining the same number of CUDA cores and clockspeeds as the non-Super model. This in turn will bump up the memory bandwidth, from 192GB/s to 336GB/s. The memory bandwidth is even higher than the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, which is a nice perk. That said, the TI card is still the burlier model by way of having more CUDA cores enabled. One thing that will be interesting to see is what kind of discounts might emerge on the regular GeForce GTX 1660. Vendors will likely be looking to clear out existing inventories, and with Black Friday and Cyber Monday right around the corner, there could be some tantalizing sales.

Here's a real-time tech video for Unreal Engine 4, showing some of the best Storm effects I’ve ever seen. This video was running in real-time on the PC, and showcases what the next-gen experience that PCs can offer. The demo was also running with 35-60fps at 1080p on a GTX970 on Epic/High settings. Moreover, the artist did not optimize this scene, meaning that it could run even better.

Microsoft is ready to release its next feature update for Windows 10, the November 2019 Update. As usual, the company has updated its processor requirements for the new version, but there are some surprises in there. For one thing, it retroactively changed the requirements for version 1903 while it was at it. It's a reasonable thing to do, since Windows 10 version 1909 is really just version 1903 with an enablement package to light up some new features. If 1909 supports certain new processors, then 1903 must support them as well. On the Intel side of things, Microsoft updated them to say that they support 10th-generation Core processors, along with Xeon E-22xx. There's also support for Atom J4xxx/J5xxx and N4xxx/N5xxx, Celeron, and Pentium, although specific models of Celeron and Pentium aren't listed. On a side note, Intel 10th-gen is listed as Core i3/i5/i7/i9-10xxx, despite no 10th-gen Core i9 existing just yet. In the AMD department, there's still support for the company's seventh-generation processors, including A-series, E-series, and FX-9000, along with Athlon 2xx, Opteron, and EPYC 7xxx. What's new for AMD is support for Ryzen 3xxx CPUs, where previously only Ryzen 2xxx processors were listed. What's more interesting is the Qualcomm CPUs that are listed. Previously, version 1903 supported the Snapdragon 850, but that's removed and replaced with both the Snapdragon 855 and the Snapdragon 8cx. It's unclear if this is a misprint, but the Snapdragon 855 was never supposed to be a PC chipset; it's for smartphones. It's possible that Microsoft meant to write Snapdragon 850, which is a PC chipset that's based on the Snapdragon 845.
Intel Could Unveil First Discrete 10 nm GPUs in mid-2020 - tech

According to the sources close to DigiTimes, Intel will unveil its first discrete 10 nm graphics cards named "Xe" very soon, with the first wave of Xe GPUs expected to arrive some time in 2020. Said to launch mid year, around July or August, Intel will start selling initial Xe GPU models of the long awaited product to consumers, in hope of gaining a share in the massive market using GPU for acceleration of all kinds of tasks.

Perhaps one of the most interesting notes DigiTimes reported is that "... Intel's GPUs have already received support from the upstream supply chain and has already been integrated into Intel's CPUs to be used in the datacenter and AI fields.", meaning that AIB partners already have access to first 10 nm graphics chips that are ready for system integration. First generation of Xe graphics cards will cover almost whole GPU market, including PC, datacenter, and AI applications where NVIDIA currently holds the top spot.

AMD today released a newest update to its Radeon Adrenalin driver. Dubbed version 19.10.1, the new release brings many new bug fixes and improvements to the table. For starters it will enable support for the newly released Radeon RX 5500 an 5500M desktop and mobile graphics cards, so now the buyers of these cards will have a driver from day one to start their experience smoothly. Additionally, support for the upcoming game "GRID", set to release on October 11th, is also included with this driver release.

AMD officially announces Radeon RX 5500 - tech

AMD has officially announced its latest mid-range graphics cards, the AMD Radeon RX 5500 series. This basically means that the red team will release three variants which are: RX 5500M, RX 5500 and RX 5500 XT. The first one is for mobile whereas the other two are for desktop. The RX 5500 series will feature GDDR6 memory and a 128-bit bus. Thus, its theoretical maximum bandwidth will reach 224 GB/s. The RX 5500 will support up to 4GB of memory, whereas the RX 5500XT will support up to 8GB. Moreover, AMD claims that the RX 5500 provides 1.6X performance per Watt over RX 480. Its chip will also have more transistors than Polaris 10 (6.4B vs 5.7B). Videocardz has shared an image with all the known specifications for the new RX 5500 and RX 5500XT. And while AMD promises that RX 5500 series will be available this quarter, there is no specific date yet or price.

Intel 10th Gen Core X "Cascade Lake-X" Pricing and Specs - tech

The 10th generation Core X HEDT processor family is based on the new 14 nm++ "Cascade Lake" silicon, which comes with hardware fixes against several classes side-channel vulnerabilities, and introduces an updated instruction-set that includes more AVX-512 instructions, and the new DLBoost instruction. DLBoost leverages new fixed-function hardware on silicon to accelerate AI deep-learning neural-set building and training by up to 5 times. Intel's first wave of 10th gen Core X lineup is rather slim, with just four processor models. The company did away with the Core i7 brand extension, as core-counts in the mainstream desktop segment have already reached 8-core. The lineup now begins at 10-core/20-thread, with the chip's full 48-lane PCI-Express and 4-channel DDR4 interfaces enabled across the board. All models feature the "XE" brand extension, and feature unlocked base-clock multipliers. The Core i9-10900XE is your gateway to the series. This 10-core/20-thread chip comes with a fascinating price-tag of just USD $590, a significant drop from the $999 price for the previous-generation 10-core chip, the i9-9900X. It's clocked higher, with 3.70 GHz nominal, 4.50 GHz Turbo Boost 2.0, 4.70 GHz Turbo Boost Max 3.0 and 4.30 GHz all-core Turbo. The chip is endowed with 1 MB of dedicated L2 cache per core, and 19.25 MB of shared L3 cache.

The Core i9-10920XE is a $689 12-core/24-thread chip priced under AMD's upcoming flagship AM4 model, the Ryzen 9 3950X. It's marginally faster than its predecessor, the i9-9920X, with 3.50 GHz base clocks (same), 4.60 GHz Turbo Boost 2.0, 4.80 GHz Turbo Boost Max 3.0, and 4.30 GHz all-core turbo. Interestingly, the increase in core-count doesn't bring additional L3 cache, you get the same 19.25 MB.

The next step in this series is the $784 Core i9-10940XE, a 14-core/28-thread processor clocked at 3.30 GHz, with 4.60 GHz Turbo Boost 2.0, 4.80 GHz Turbo Boost Max 3.0, and 4.10 GHz all-core turbo. Yet again, you get just 19.25 MB of shared L3 cache. Interestingly, Intel did not plan a 16-core/32-thread model in this series, you jump straight to the flagship.

Leading the pack is the Core i9-10980XE, an 18-core/36-thread processor priced at a mouth-watering $979, which is less than half that of the previous-generation Core i9-9980XE. It ticks at 3.00 GHz, with 4.60 GHz Turbo Boost 2.0, 4.80 GHz Turbo Boost Max 3.0, and 3.80 GHz all-core turbo. You get a larger 24.75 MB of shared L3 cache. All four chips have their TDP rated at 165 W.
