AMD has released its latest Adrenalin drivers for Radeon graphics cards. With support dating back to RX 400, the latest Adrenalin 23.3.1 WHQL drivers bring a lot of improvements to the table, as well as support for Halo Infinite Ray Tracing Update and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty game. Most importantly, the new driver has a series of fixes, including intermittent driver timeout, system freeze, or BSOD, with the latest Radeon RX 7000 series. Problems in games such as Premium Gold Packs in EA SPORTS FIFA 23 and Dying Light 2 lighting effects corruption have been fixed. As far as Radeon RX 6000 series goes, this driver release manages to fix corruption in certain scenes with ray tracing enabled observed in the Returnal game. Check the list below for the entire set of changes.

Our sexy reviewer is here with another nice review, so enjoy! :-) I personally don't have a problem with these Kingstons. It's cheap and 5 years warranty. Where I needed a really cheap PC, I gave them. Otherwise, I preferred Samsung. But now after the 980 Pro affair (and probably some EVOs) I don't trust Samsung as much as before. Plus checking and upgrading firmware everywhere is really extra work, it really pisses me off.

According to @XenoPanther and @PhantomOfEarth, Windows 11 build 25309 contains several strings hinting at AI-powered effects for the desktop background. The build mentioned "Depth effects," "Parallax Background," and "WallpaperMotion." Another line suggests Microsoft wants to use AI to add depth effects to background images on compatible devices.

NVIDIA has released the latest version of its GeForce Game Ready drivers. Version 531.18 WHQL adds optimization and DLSS 3 support for "Atomic Heart," and "The Finals" beta. The drivers also introduce RTX Video Super Resolution, a video upscaler technology that uses some functional aspects of DLSS to improve the quality of upscaled video. Among the issues fixed with this release include a game freeze noticed with "Forza Horizon 4" some 15-30 minutes into gameplay; occassional stability issues with "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," issues with ProRes RAW files in Adobe After Effects media encoder; and application instability with Adobe Premiere Pro.

The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is launching alongside the R9 7900X3D, with the R7 7800X3D launching in April. We're talking about a scam on the used/second-hand CPU market that seems to primarily affect Intel CPUs. Scammers are rebranding lower-end parts as high-end CPUs, then vanishing after the sale. One of our viewers was scammed out of $500 for a 12900KS, so we bought it off of the viewer to see how the scam worked. This shows tricks both physically and digitally that you can use to verify whether a CPU is counterfeit -- and of course, the physical ones are most important as they can reveal a fake CPU before you even buy it.

AMD today released its first driver update in more than two months for Radeon RX 6000 series and RX 5000 series, the Adrenalin 23.2.1 WHQL. The drivers introduce optimization for "Forspoken," with up to 7% performance improvement on offer at 4K with an RX 6950 XT GPU; and optimization for "Dead Space" (2023). The drivers also introduce IREE compiler using MLIR interface on Vulkan, and a handful of new Vulkan API extensions. The drivers also catch up on the past two months of optimizations that were only released for the RX 7000 series, covering Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Hogwarts Legacy, and some performance improvements to games released in the past six months.

Among the issues fixed with this release include the "Delayed Write Failed" error noticed in Windows 11 22H2, SpaceEngine lower-than-expected performance, display corruption in the Points Shop section of Steam; YouTube playback with Enhanced Sync on some RX 6000 series GPUs; game crashes noticed with Door Kickers 2, Baldur's Gate (Vulkan), Emergency 4, and Sea of Thieves. These drivers unify the driver release trunk, spanning RX 400 series, RX 500 series, RX Vega series, RX 5000 series, RX 6000 series, and RX 7000 series.

Microsoft has issued a warning to Windows 10 and Windows 11 users with system Intel GPUs. The company says that people who have installed November's cumulative update for Windows (the KB5019980 update) may experience issues if they also have certain versions of the Intel graphics driver installed. The problems affect apps and games that make use DirectX or Direct3D to render content, and can cause apphelp.dll errors to appear. The problem affects Windows 11 versions 21H2 and 22H2, Windows 10 versions 20H2, 21h2 and 22H2, as well as Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 and Windows Sever 2022. In a post in Windows Release Health entitled You might receive an error with apphelp.dll from apps using DirectX, Microsoft says:
After installing KB5019980, you might receive an error with apphelp.dll on Windows devices using Intel graphics drivers with versions 26.20.100.7463 up to 30.0.101.1190. This issue might happen intermittently and affects apps which use DirectX or Direct3D to render part or all of their content.

The workaround is pleasingly simple -- just upgrade to a newer driver version:
To mitigate this issue, you can install an Intel graphics driver with a later version than 30.0.101.1190. It is recommended to check your Windows device manufacturer's support for the latest version of the Intel graphics driver for your device. If they do not offer a driver later than 30.0.101.1190, you can check List of Drivers for Intel Graphics for information on how to download and install the latest Intel graphics driver available from Intel directly.
