Funny cuz I'd take nVidia hands down. Last few years I had ATI. Drivers sucked, support sucked and games I saw on nVidia always looked better and played better. I still LOVE my 7600 and I try to forget the days I gamed with ATI. I also found Oblivion looked and played way better with nVidia. |

To each his own. I own several Nvidia and ATI cards, and I definitely see a cleaner, more crisp picture with the ATI.
ATI's antialiasing in particular does a much better job cleaning up jaggies than Nvidia's. |

I bought the 7800GT for the simple reason that it had (future) support for shader version 3 -At the time no ATI cards supported it, or were just coming out and rediculously expensive.
The GeForce 7800GT, Factory Overclocked, cost me the same amount as my old TI4600 when it was first released!
Regardless of games supporting SM3 or not it was more-or-less a freeby with the card. With my main purchase being Oblivion i wanted that option.
I have owned ATI -Radeon 9800- which i was very impressed with, but i opted for GeForce again because the market had changed at that point.
Sharper pictures (AA & AF) were more obvious way back when games ran 1024x768, but now they run 1600x1200 upwards and you couldn't tell the difference between either cards -maybe colour? but not much else. |
