| I can barely tolerate BF2 anymore, it's just totally rediculous how long it takes to join a game. I mean, close to 5 mins and 2x longer if you change 'a' setting.. I thought BF1942 took a long time... The only real reason I don't play BF2 or Special Forces is the join time is just totally stupid..Joining a server is not the only thing either, it's joining a server where people are more interested in doing other things and you have to make that hard choice to leave and join another server. They should really fix this, I see this as a huge problem with the game and it likely turns off a lot of people. |

Bingo!!!
I was a fan of BF1942 the day it came out, same with the expansions and even vietnam. I loved how they added vehicles to the fps multiplayer genre. If only operation flashpoint had had a multiplayer maybe it would've taken off in the same way.
I grew tired of BF2 a lot quicker than I should have, and the load times were the kicker. Didn't care much for the RPG-esq ranking system either, but would've dealt with it if I could play when I wanted to, not 10 minutes later.
I know the 2 are nothing alike, and say what you will about steam, but with CS you can start the game and join a server in a minute. Nothing worse than having to sit there for 5 or more minutes while it "calculates" shaders because you changed your resolution or altered a setting. Even on a A64 3500+ system with raided raptors it still took forever, now WTF is that all about? |

| If you want it to load quicker, make sure you have at least 2 gigs of ram, and if it's still too slow, get a faster harddrive. |

| vehicle drops? this is ea scrambling to add new features in order to beat quake wars to the punch. don't get me wrong, i love the idea. the 1.2 patch is what put me off bf2. introduced way too many bugs and just down right frustration. once some of the decent mods come out i will definitly be firing the game back up. fh2, where are you!!!! |

| hmmm, i don't remember there being vehicle drops in any prior bf series. personally, i thought it was pretty compelling when i heard about this feature in quake wars and that was why it sparked some negativity from me when i saw that ea was putting it in bf2. |

| Well, if you only had 1 gig of ram, the loading times would be about twice as long. Getting a raid setup would also make it faster. I really don't have any problems with the loading times, but if it's taking 5 minutes to join a game, even with it having to optimize shaders, then there's something wrong with your computer... |

Very much agree miglaugh, the load times drive me freaking nuts. CS opens and gets onto a server as fast as you can load up solitaire. Quite a few times I had the "urge" to play BF2 only to be bored out of skull while I wait for it load. Then just play for 5mins after which I am left feeling kind of odd. And yes 2gigs of ram and a raptor here too |
