A Reddit buyer dumped a GTX 1070 and an i5-4690K for an MSI Aegis with Ryzen 9 9900X, RTX 5080 16GB, 32GB DDR5 and a 2TB NVMe. About $2,650 before tax, near $3,000 after. In Topaz Video AI a 7-minute 1080p upscale ran past 30 minutes. A 15-second*preview took about a minute. CPU sat at 80%. The 5080 barely moved.

Yep, been saying this many times.
There's no real improvement in CPUs - speeds of 16+Ghz are expected by now, you would feel those.
There's no real improvement in GPUs either. The next worty step-up from 1080GTX is the 3060Ti - and there is nothing after that.
All these faux-frame rendering cards are pretty powerless, actually. |

On the contrary. The 5080 doesn’t even need to be used at what this idiot is doing, plus the shitty mobo.
1080 with a 5080. Guys a moron, when everything is getting processed by the CPU. |
