Kids today are just walking damaged ‘goods’. They are so far removed from reality and lack street sense and experience that we had as kids.
33+ years ago I played Doom on Kali95 (online) and was talked and helped set it up by a - I didn’t know at the time- 9 year old! My wife couldn’t believe it. So far advanced for his years, polite and long before mobiles and antisocial media existed. This is how gaming used to be and not fed on by perverted kids and adults alike or for other means.
We had a great laugh.
I’ve never played online since RTCW. I wouldn’t with these crackpots out there |

Yup.
The interwebz is full of dummies and bad actors.
To me the end of online gaming was Starcraft: Brood Wars and UT'99. I played these for a few years.
I did try online gaming on a few occasions since, always to disappoint, so... I don't miss it and I don't even want it. Just checking out of curiosity every now and then.
Not sure what's up with the kids these days, mine are fucked up like everyone else's. I told them the dangers, I educated them on healthy use. No use. Their PCs and phones are like drugs to them: you try to limit it and all hell breaks loose... Who is to blame? I'd turn my finger towards the social platforms... |

| Always this bullshit about more restrictions, more control, more freedom removal. Making sure kids don't get ganked online is up to their fucking parents, not the government. |

Amen. Problem is, you have no control over what they do when they are not at home or when you are not at home.
I would limit the screen time to 2 hours per day rather than what is it they can do - except of course, content intended for older audience and social media/messaging in or out of games. I don't want to worry what idiot puts what ideas in their heads.
They'd be more careful how they spend their time then. |
