Activision has released
a new movie trailer (17MB) of
Quake 4, showing the off futuristic first-person shooter sequel in development at Raven Software. This is a multiplayer movie that sports a bit under a minute of fast-paced deathmatch footage. Another mirror:

This isn't going to set the multiplayer world on fire.
If anything, it looks like lame D3 multi forced to mate with Q3. I guess it's too much to expect id/Raven to produce hardcore DM in the corporate age, but it doesn't matter what big developers do: Q1, Q2 and now Q3 are GPL'd and cool new offshoots like Warsow are the future of deathmatch. Thanks to Carmack's generosity, garage development is alive and kicking and will be for years to come. |
