Sortof. I'm a hardcore gamer.
I have all the consoles, All the games I want to play (I dont play sports or JRPG but I got just about everything else)
I play from about 6pm till 4am.
Mostly Destiny 2. Nearly completed it. (got 5 guns to get and 1 trophy then its done)
I'm single.

So I play everywhere, got remote play on the phone, got a steam deck so that and all the remote play apps I can play anything anywhere.

So am I addicted? No. Not really. I can stop anytime I want, I just dont want to.
I dont have a life, (I'm a gamer. I dont need to get a life, I have many)
BUT, if my car worked I would happily go for a drive instead of game for the night.
If I had a GF I would happily do her than any game.

So addicted? I dont think so. and thats not just now, I've been a gamer since I was 12 and now I'm 51. I was a gamer then, a gamer at 21, a gamer at 31, 41, and now 51.
SO a real hardcore gamer. I played everything, finished 90% of what I started. Been married, had kids, single father so I brought up kids on my own. All through that still a gamer. Addicted? nope. A fan of gaming, HELL YES!

For me its a stress reliever. People drink, drug, bubble bath, read, watch movies. for me its gaming.
I keep saying, gaming has saved many peoples lives. I had a hard day, someone pisses me off, then that night I load up a violent video game, Most likely Postal 2 or 4. I take out my aggression in the game. I enjoy killing them, pissing on them, lighting them on fire, mostly in that order. Then I laugh my ass off. After a good gaming session I'm relaxed, happy, the stress has gone. So do violent games make violent people? No, they stop violent people from being violent.
Take away those games and see what happens. I bet you'll hand them back pretty quick.

So addicted? Are you addicted to your books? your alcohol? your drugs? Your bubble baths? your movies?
Same answer.

It's okay, buddy, I think you're totally normal. We just like games and computers so what. I'm addicted to a lot of things too, games, computers, writing Gameguru Very Happy But otherwise I work normally, take care of my family and my addictions don't hurt anyone. My wife shares everything with me, often helps me and of course we do other things too Smile

You have my respect for how many games you've finished, especially since I'm 53. And there are two of us to raise the kids, I certainly couldn't do it alone. You're a good man. Not many men can do that. We're at a similar stage in our lives now (except my girls are still little). But before we had kids (before I was 40), I was playing games at the same pace as you and writing reviews. I'd like to get back to that sometime.

As for violent games. I have the same opinion on that, too. If it's taken reasonably, a violent game doesn't hurt anyone. On the contrary, it helps to relax. Just like when someone boxes in a punching bag. It doesn't hurt anybody either. By the way, Postal 2 was great! Even though a lot of people here disagreed with me. But I don't like Postal 4, I don't know why. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it when I tried it. Maybe I'm too happy in life Smile But I fucking get you! Smile))
