Mortal Kombat 2 released in the arcades in 1993. It was a smash hit generating over $600 million in sales and threw down a challenge to Capcom and Street Fighter 2 to be the most influential fighting game in history. I played Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in the arcades during lunchtime break at secondary school and yep... you can only beat the higher ranks by cheesing the game with Kabal, Sub-Zero or Smoke. But even then it can still become a stalemate with the AI. The game was absolutely brutal.

At home, I first played MK2 and 3 on the Mega Drive, but my favourite was Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PS1 even though the loading times were more painful than a fatality Laughing
