| yea, long story short, for gaming, fuck that shit. Even right now there are benchmarks out there which say that there is literally 1FPS to gain going from 3200 MHz sticks to 4000+ MHz sticks. |

CAN you upgrade to DDR5, not should you. If you get Alder Lake (or not-yet-existent AM5 ryzen) you WILL HAVE to. If you stay on socket you are on now, you CAN'T.

If I may ask: where did you see this? I saw some "leaked" data from sketchy sources but there aren't even coolers for LGA 1700 socket...Proper testing is still virtually impossible. |

You need to do the math.
DDR5 transfers nearly half the data at twice the rate.
To me that means they are nearly equal. |

Comparing the entry level at the start of the ddr5 age would only be fair if we compare it to the dr4 speeds when it started with 1600 or 1866 MHz.
How do you think current fastest ddr4 modules will compare to ddr5 12000 or faster?!
PS. The point is, yes, we can pit the faster ddr4 modules against the new slowest ddr5 modules (keeping in mind that ddr4 started back in 2014) and have ddr4 performing faster, like we had ddr3, after 4 years, performing faster than ddr4 when it came out. But not anymore 
Yes, it sucks for early adopters, but since they have cache to burn I don't think they mind.  |

Meanwhile ASUS pushes the moneygrab even further by announcing that their 12th Gen Intel mobos will exclusively support DDR5. No DDR4 on their new motherboards, like wtf?
I guess Comet and Rocket lake were the last solid opportunities for a while to build a good machine without being forced to adopt new tech that almost nobody needs. Suddenly its all DDR5 and PICe 5, while PCIe 6 is already finalized and done, but current games can't even use 4 cores efficiently, lol |

Quite frankly, you should skip ADL and wait for the one after that (13th gen). That might be the new 2500K. If you are in rush, well, get something moderate from amd or intel. I'd get 10400K, it's just a beast in that price range. |
